Yup, I've been staring at the startup screen for about 15 minutes now. Was having problems the last few months in that it would freeze up. I know it's the HD and was having mega problems last night that even unplugging it and pugging it back in would not get it past the startup screen.
So, crap.
I have been meaning to use a LInux program to copy the HD sector by sector. Using Windows to boot would write to the HD instructions TiVo would not recognize and cause an error.
Now I guess it does not matter. I have no option to try to open the damn thing up and get my lost "Lost" shows back. Crap, and I was so into it too.
So, will open it up tonight after I find the right Linux program and cobble together a machine specifically for the job. I have an 80 Gb HD sitting around somewhere I can wipe. I don't know if it's the right connector: IDE or SATA. Not sure.
Crappola.
Yup, still frozen.
Any suggestions on Linux sector-copying programs?
Any of you have this happen to yours? I got mine as a Christmas gift in 2003, so 5 years isn't bad for a HD that runs/reads/writes 24/7. Out of warranty period.
Crap, crap, crap.
Still frozen.
