I was just thinking about doing a minor upgrade on my 939 sys so I don't get disappointed in it while I'm waiting on my new parts to come out for my new sys I'm making.  I was thinking of getting the Opti 175 S939 while there still in stock over at newegg.  Going from an X2 3800 to an Opti 175 would be a HUGE difference, besides, it would give me the opportunity to test out how good those cpu's really are.  Hell, I might even hook up my Freezone CPU cooler up to it just for shits and giggles.

Make sure to put the socket at 939. Best bang for buck there is the 4200+ or the 3800+

I love my Opti, overclocks like a champ and came with a very nice heatsink. Best OEM heatsink I have ever seen.

This is what I posted on [H]ard Forums, I decided to stay with my current X-2 3800 and just use the parts I already had to build this sys.  I had to use some of the parts I was saving for when I get an Intel Quad core sys.     But I still have the potential to pull this X-2 3800 up and over the 3 GHz mark

Well I'm all back together now and am currently running strong at 2.6GHz, I can't really go much higher than this due to my memory being so slow. Once I get a new set of DDR chips in here thats able to push me over the edge I can see this sys pushing this X-2 3800+ over the 3GHz range. Hell, I'm already in the 9k range in 3DMark06 and it can only get better from here.

Current Sys Specs:

1 AMD X-2 3800+ Manchester BH-E4 (2.6GHz Water Cooled)
1 Coolit Freezone CPU cooler
2 G-Skill (1gbx2) 2-3-3-5 333Mhz Memory
1 LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR (not the Expert like I had hopped I had)
2 EVGA 7900 GT KO Superclocked vid cards in Sli (630/1550)
2 10k Raptor 74GB HDD in Raid 0
1 7.2k 750GB HDD in Raid 1
1 1600W Ultra X-Connect X-3 PSU
1 Thermaltake Armour (Black) Case
1 Samsung DVD/DVDR

The only things I crossed over to the new sys were the CPU, Ram, vid cards, and DVD Drive, everything else I was saving for when I build a 45nm quad Intel system when they come out. Now I just need to tweek this just a little bit more, if I'm able to hit the 3+ GHz range I'll be happy.

Since you've already got a 3800X2 clocked at 2.6ghz, I doubt an Opty will overclock a significant amount more. I suggest that you just do a complete upgrade, and by that I mean switch out the mobo, CPU, and memory which will be pretty cheap after you sell your old stuff.

Well now, since I didn't get that Opti and stayed with my X-2 3800, I was able to tweak out a few more things.  I have the voltage up on the memory, CPU, and chip set, cranked the GPU's as far as they will handle and now have a 3DMark06 score that's comparable to that of a low end C2D.  LoL
