I got a laptop for x-mas and i installed fable and it played fine, then i installed hl2 and try to play hl2 dm and it goes thur the loading scren then after that the scren goes blank, i can move th mouse over the, find server and the rest of them and it makes the beeping nosie but i dont see anyhting, any know why?. WDF?: I found a hot girl WDF?: Who lets me WDF?: Drink WDF?: Smoke WDF?: And play video games WDF?: ALL DAY shignog: and in the back door? WDF?: She's back door compatible WDF?: And it comes enabled by default WDF?: I need to teach sirus a lesson WDF?: Oh wait WDF?: That's called gay shignog: if there is a girl there its bi WDF?: lol WDF?: ok shignog: so its not so gay WDF?: Good enough

As long as you have the system requirements, it shouldn't be a problem.
Make sure you log off of your account at the computer you normally play at....I find steam is rather picky at that (I have HL2 installed under 4 computers using same login - one at a time) if I play under one comp., and plan to use the other the next time around, I always make sure I log off completely from steam. It too freezes up on me when I switch comps most of time if I forget to sign out of the other computer which I was logged on under.
Another thing is you may want to re-install steam/HL2. In case there are some broken/missing files.

I think it has something to do with the video card cuz when i tired to run anything steams it said it did not know my card and it could, be unstable, so i geuss ill have to contact steam about it, cuz i can even do any maping, it cuz crashes hammer everytime. I got a toshiba satellite a105-s4284 and its an intel 128mb video, i thinks its onboard. It's probably that intel graphics accelarator 950.
It's awful. Can't play much other than games that were out prior to 2003.

on my desktop i am able to play hl2 dm at med settings and still get about 60fps, but it seans that only hl2 has not runon it, i have fable the lost chapters on here and it runs good. Follow the on-screen instructions, once you can test the laptop, select HL2 and the program in the website will analyze your system and tell you what it is lacking in order to play. If it is your video card, try updating it with latest drivers.

well thanks for the site, i ran it and it said that my laptop should make hl2 its bitch, i got mostly 6 bars with some 5 bars. I know before it said something like it did not recognize my video card, so maybe steams just needs to make an update for the video card, or maybe there is an update for it some were. Whats really dumb is i ran it for fable and it said i failed it, but i have been plaing the game for like 3 days on my laptop. I really thought that site was reliable. Now that you said fable can run when it's not suppose to...that makes me think twice.....
*hmmmmmm*
All in all, I still think that the site is good for reference. Gives you an idea what u can run and not run. *except w/Fable lol

I failed the min and recomnded, the min i failed cuz i dont have an ati 8500 or Geforce 3 card oe better in my laptop. And the Recomended i failed cuz i dont have a vertex sharder 2.0, i have 0.0, and i dont have video hd transform and lighting, But i have been plaing the game on my laptop. Im not plaing them at the highest setting but imam able to play it with out lag. And when i ran it for hl2 i passed, but it wont run, i dont think they have the video card in my laptop in there set-up yet. it gets to the screen were it says loading in the bottom right hand conner and after that it goes blank, i think if i can find a way, to set everything on low it will run. i had a problem with dawn of war, dark crusade, but i ran it in safe mode and it set everyhting tolow settings and i can play it just fine now. i dont know if there is something i can do to set the graphics tolow before i try to play the game or not, any one know?
