Our company shares a building with two other companies; one of them is run by the owner of the building. Here's what happened in bullet points (faster than typing a paragraph).
  • landlord sent email to my boss reminding him that we owed the landlord money for some work one of their employees did for us awhile ago
  • my boss replied saying he was out of town (which he is), will come in on Monday and bring him "up to date" with everything
Is this a good thing or bad thing? In other words, does a CEO say something like that because of imminent failure of the company, or will he walk in with a check and bring our finances "up to date?" Maybe I'm just being jumpy.
WDF?

That sounds sketchy. I tend to pay people that do work for us immediately. The fact that he's out of town with money owed is not a good sign.
