So I'm trying to connect to my school's wireless network and it's a no-go. I can see the network on my list and the signal strength is great, but when I attempt to connect to it, it fails. Xubuntu's way of showing the process is an icon that has two lights with a light that swirls through both of them. The first one that lights up is my wireless nic I imagine with the second being their router or whatever. The second one doesn't light up So how do I find out what's wrong?

My wireless NIC works perfectly fine with other networks, btw.

I'm not sure on your distro but some of the cli tools may tell you more information. Also, Linux's support for wireless encryption is hit and miss. Try looking for something in apt-get that adds support, as there certainly are things that work. Also, make sure that you are up to date and have the latest kernel.

Side note: I've had pretty good luck with Fedora as far as wireless is concerned.
