Well when I turned on my computer this morning my screen was black but my computer was going, so I wondered what was wrong and switched the plug from my 8600 gts to my motherboard's onboard.. It somehow gained priority or something.. So I restarted and checked BIOS, was still set on PCI Express as Main. So I reinstalled my drivers, still no luck. The fan on my 8600 still runs yet I don't know if it died, also no idea why it would it hasn't been running hot at all. I sent in a ticket to the XFX support, it's an XFX card and warranteed if it is broken but I just want to play games now :p So... any of you guys know what the problem is and/or how to fix it?

you might try and reset the bios by using the jumper reset method, I am not sure which mobo you have, but all you do is set the jumper to clear cmos, and try removing the battery and doing it. Might help to clear the corrupt bios.

I did that. Didn't work, gave it to a friend to see if it worked in his computer and if it doesn't then I'm sending it to XFX.

I just installed a new MB that had on-board video, too. I first booted it up with only that, then afterwards put in my PCIe video card and moved the monitor connector to that. I didn't have to change anything in the BIOS for it to use the video card over the on-board - I think it just detected that the monitor was plugged into the video card so used that. That said, I'd suspect it's a problem with your video card. If for some reason it couldn't detect that the monitor was plugged into it then the signal might have just gone to the on-board instead.

Sounds like your video card died. The fans still running only means that the video card is still getting power (which means your mobo is fine). If you have another video card, put it in there and it should work fine. If it turns out that the video card is dead, do something fun like dropping it off of a tall building into traffic.
