I'm not here to ask for any advice. I am here to give it.
Don't be one of those fucking douchebags who talk on thier phone while trying to complete a transaction with another human.
I was just recently reminded of how much I hate people and the new wireless society we live in. I will elaborate...Recently I was trying to order a sandwich in my local quiznos. Infront of me is a twenty-something girl who had been on the phone since she left her car. She was incessantly yapping on about nothing, probably with somebody who was yapping on about nothing right back...neither actually listening or communicating, but I digress. It was suddenly her turn to order, but instead of halting her, she decides to split both conversations. This of course led to immediate confusion between the 3 parties as to whom each was speaking to. The poor kid behind the counter i swear asked her 4 GOD DAMN times what kind of bread she wanted and got the following responses:
"what bread, ma'am" (blank stare....silence)
"what bread, ma'am" "huh?"
"what bread, ma'am" "Oh mah god...yeah I'm ordering a sandwich" (I would argue she hasn't ordered shit)
"what bread, ma'am" "Hold on a sec.........I will have white"
This madness continued for each of her special lil fucking bullshit requirements the sandwich had to fullfill before it was good enough to become part of her fat ass. Then the same struggle ensued while she tried to listen to the price of the meal, randomly spitting out nonsense comments directed to the phonecaller, but ostensibly at the person behind the cash register...confusing the fuck out of them. It took her (i timed, 4 minutes to spit out her order and 3 minutes to pay.)
it took me 30 seconds to deliver my order, 45 seconds to pay...i was not rushing.
Why don't people have the god damn common curtesy to put down teh phone anymore and talk to people? It's fucked up and when I worked in retail I used to just walk away from people trying to talk to me and somebody onthe phone at the same time. Fuck them.
