Yup. You heard me.
Capitalism is about the acquisition of material possession and influence over other people. Why the hell would we want someone with that mindset leading our government? A government that can force us to give us money, then spend it damn near however it wants.

Can you imagine empowering a company to force us to buy stocks in it? But at least then we'd in theory own the stocks...

Your definition of capitalism runs pretty far astray from the widely accepted definition.

Just like the idea of a capitalist economy being able to stabilize itself, huh?
Our society obviously needs a wake-up call.

It will, it just takes a year or so you dumb fucks. Also it would be quicker if people stopped poking it with sticks that were payed for with borrowed money from a frozen credit market.

An when I say dumb fucks I'm talking to all the people who rip capitalism for thinking that capitalism fails because it doesn't right itself in a couple weeks. It took years to get into this, and it'll take years to get out. No offence Rikaelus.

Ford is asking for more money than the worth of their own company and it's very possible our elected officials are going to give in.  What a joke.

I don't much care how long it takes to fix itself, nor do I care if this specific problem is due to political poking of the economy to begin with. By its very nature, capitalism is based on competition which means that large companies always run the risk of failing. The problem is... we're often very dependent upon some of these large companies. Credit card companies, car manufacturers, and banks in particular. We rely on them being there as a stabilizing force in our every-day lives. When a bank fails, not only do individuals lose confidence and stability, but other companies can as well. Before you know it you could have a cascading effect of many companies failing because of the mistakes of one. Hundreds of thousands of people could be laid off. People could lose money. And when that starts happening then everyone becomes hesitant to buy products which only makes other companies suffer.

People want stability and capitalism simply cannot ensure that.

So when people talk about making all schools private, or talk against universal healthcare, I just shake my head in disgust. How can anyone trust our childrens' education and our health care to companies that might not only fail in their own right, but could be pulled down by the failings of other companies? I would much prefer stability in as many places as we can get it.

A receipe for instant inflation.   Wouldn't help much at all, or prevent a run on banks (yeah I know about the FDIC...but they have already said bailing out citigroup was partially to prevent a run on it)...who is going to put thier 26k in a bank or investment house they dont have faith in?  Nobody..

Exactly! That's why I keep buying games and things instead of saving it.

Like socialism is that stable. Look at the soviet union. They didn't have a credit shortage like we do now, they just had fucking shortages. At least capitalism is keeping us all fed. Besides companies don't collapse, they just file for chapter 11 bankruptcy or get bought out. Either way the services they offer continue.
