Quote:Rockstar working to resolve PC GTA 4 issues
By James Orry - 04/12/2008 - 1:09pm GMT
Is aware of a 'small number of fans' having problems.
The highly anticipated PC release of Grand Theft Auto IV has been met with a whole string of problems reported by players of the game on gaming forums across the internet. Problems range restrictive graphics settings even on powerful systems, texture errors, general error and installation error codes and on the whole quite poor performance.
Speaking to GTA Gaming, Rockstar said:
"We are aware that a small number of fans are having problems running GTA IV on their PCs and we would like to assure them we are working to help solve these as quickly as possible.
"We would ask anyone that is encountering difficulties to contact their local technical support helpline for advice and recommendations. These telephone numbers can be found in the game's manual.
"There is also a regularly updated technical support page available on the Rockstar Games website http://www.rockstargames.com/support/ where there are many useful faqs and information on how to resolve some common problems being encountered."
Regarding the inaccessible higher graphical settings, Rockstar has said that these have been "provided for future generations of PCs with higher specifications than are currently widely available". get your ass to mars

Dam - I wish I read this thread before!
So I got GTA IV for Christmas and guess what - my Computer doesn't meet the minimum specs, After spending ages installing and signing up for Rockstar Social Club and Games for Windows Live, which I had problems with. I didn't check before because I just thought my PC would be good enough. The game runs reasonably well but only on Medium graphics.
Quote:Minimum Hardware Requirements: Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8Ghz, AMD Athlon X2 64 2.4Ghz Memory: 1.5GB Free Hard Drive Space: 16GB Video Card: 256MB NVidia 7900 / 256MB ATI X1900
Recommended Hardware Requirements:
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz, AMD Phenom X3 2.1Ghz Memory: 2GB (Windows XP) 2.5GB (Windows Vista) Free Hard Drive Space: 18GB Video Card: 512MB NVIDIA 8600 / 512MB ATI 3870
My Hardware:
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3.2Ghz (Overclocked at 3.6Ghz) <- Doesn't meet Minimum Hardware Requirements
Memory 2GB (800Mhz) <- Doesn't meet Reccommended Hardware Requirements (for Windows Vista)
Video Card: 512MB ATI 3870 <- Meets Reccommended Hardware Requirements, Yay

Ouch. I can't even play it with above recommended requirements. It's good that you didn't experience the game in this state, though. {pDs} Lead Salad: bike why did you change your name Jessica343: so I can get heals {pDs} Lead Salad: oh damn good idea {pDs} Lead Salad has changed their name to {pDs} Lead Salad (is a girl) Jessica343: hahah

This is the maximum draw distance I get. With the new setup, I can have it on very high (but not highest) settings. Game looks awesome. I think I'll be good for the next few years (hardware wise). -and yes, I landed on top of the moped guy crushing him. -also the textures look a bit grainy because I pasted the screenshot in mspaint. It's clear in the game. get your ass to mars

If anyone is having the same problem as me where you cannot change the graphics (Put Textures on High for example), add " -norestrictions" to the end of the games shortcut. You just put it in and you can play it. Literally as soon as you put the disc in. Holy crap. What an idea. Safety + Peace
