Every time i try to play HL2 or HL2: Lost coast  it loads until the "64-bit mode" pops up at the top and then freezes. Anyone know how to fix this
i'm running vista home premium, and yes i tryed running as administrator and compatibility mode, neither worked

also HL: EP 1 & 2 and all source games work fine.

Engineering. It's like science, but it works.

Are you running the game in XP 64-bit or Vista 64-bit?

I'm running the same OS version in 64-bit, and while I haven't tried running HL2 or Lost Coast specifically, I don't recall seeing any "64-bit mode" message before.

I'll try running them later and see what turns up, but otherwise I'm not sure what to suggest.  You're not doing or running anything that tries to make x86 applications run in 64-bit, are you?

The only suggestion I have is to force the game to play in 32-bit mode (performance between the two versions is minimal):

1) Right click game in steam and go to "properties"

2) Click "set launch options" and put in "-32bit" (without quotes)

3) Now try to run hl2 and see if it works.

I had this same problem. Just alt tab out, then alt tab back in. It will then work and you should never have to do it again.
