I recently came across this disturbing yet intriguing short. Anybody heard of this film? Apparently this director does music videos for Marilyn Manson. This version is safe for work.

Dragon wrote:i don't get it Thats why its "experimental," it doesn't work. Its kinda like my experimental autonomous model airplane that i built from daisy chained micro controllers, a gps receiver, a grip of sensors, and a working replica B-52: it sorta takes off ok, climbs to 1000ft, then puts the engines full throttle and noise dives in to a street. There was not much left after we put out the fire. Kinda like the plot of this film.

I saw this short before as an extra on the DVD of " Suspect Zero"; one of Merhige's mainstream films. It did not have the musical background track; just the creepy white noise effects. Experimental film is an aquired taste. The people I know in Toronto doing experimental film don't care if it works or not. They are trying to move film to more of an experential art level. This drives the film students wild but I find most of it pretty hard to watch. "I love the smell of napalm in the morning. Smells like ... victory"

When I watched it, the film certainly achieved its primary goal - to unnerve the fuck out of me. That said, I won't be watching it again, and will write it off as the purely academic masturbation that it really is. Also, it's the movie nobody guessed in the "Guess that movie" thread.Safety + Peace
