I had a meeting with the Founder and CEO of www.LAGtv.com and it went quite well. He likes me and would like to bring me aboard. Here is the rub. They have just moved their operation to LA from the east coast and are currently restructuring and rebuilding. They have a studio setup, set built, several hundred K in equipment and a pocket full of dreams. But as they are currently trying to line up investors everybody is working pro-bono and the founder is currently funding everything out of pocket. They say that they have some people interested in investing and funding the operation lined up for meetings though.

So here is what I'm wondering and would like some input on before I finally take the leap. Should I work for this up and coming game TV network for a month or two for free and then possibly get taken on as a full paid employee as soon as funding comes through? Best case scenario funding happens and I get a great gig and become a web personality of some sort. Worst case everything falls flat and I lose a couple months of my life. But even then it would be something nice to put on a resume right? I have the savings to support myself for the foreseeable future.

It rather sounds like you've made the decision for yourself. You have the funds to support yourself for a while, it sounds like this is something you really want to be a part of - I'd say go for it. In the event that the project bites the dust and you're out some living money, there's always pizza that needs moving.

3Bam speaks truth (well, all but that last sentence). Honestly, you've already made the decision. If it is something that you really want to do and you can support yourself (health stuff included), go for it. It's a great opportunity for possibly more - at least it is a start in the business.

Go for it, man. I was talking to my step dad the other day about jobs, and he told me (and made it very clear to me) that his biggest regret was not riding with new opportunities that posed a little bit of risk. He worked with Digital (who is now HP) for almost 30 years. He said he had the job security thankfully, but he felt like if he took more chances with opportunities then he could be a lot better off both in satisfaction and finances.

Take the opportunity. You're right, dynamic opportunities look good on resumes anyway, and employers will like to see that you took a good idea and rolled with it.
