For people unfamiliar, the dickhole hosting this show is Glen "the rape lover" Beck. The dickhole saying Osama bin Laden should attack America used to be in charge of the bin Laden unit at CIA. Yes, the guy who used to be in charge of hunting down bin Laden wants him to attack us again.

Anyone else think Fox News is fucked up for broadcasting shit like this? Glen Beck is a nutjob and this guy wants The Terrorists to attack The Homeland to benefit the Republicans, really WTF?!?!

I understand what he's talking about in the video, it's just the wording is extremely poor. It's not that he wants Osama to attack us, it's just that he believes Americans are so hopelessly disconnected from each other (including politicians with heads up their asses) when it comes to understanding the correct focus of the war on terror, that the only sure way to revitalize unity and focus would be for our mistakes to haunt us. The big mistake being of course, our meandering away from Osama and suffering the consequences of an attack because of that neglection. I hardly believe he is encouraging an attack - he just found a really terrible way to express a different point, mainly being, that America has hit the golf ball so far off course for various reasons that the only way to know for sure which direction to go is if someone takes the flag and not only waves it towards our direction, but tosses it in an attempt to spear our asses in hopes that it may actually spark a bit of logical sense on where we might actually need to go.

Well....he's nodding away during that nutjobs speech. I'm neither liberal nor conservative <by todays standards at least, I think I'm what a conservative USED to be> but to say that the US needs to get attacked to see the error in our ways.....that's just silly. That's like saying that Russia needs to send over an ICBM so that we can learn to build a SDI system.
And that the guy is advocating this so that the US will in turn use all levels of violence nessecary...what's he looking for? Attack in the ways we have been? Or go to war with the world? Nuke anywhere that has a funny sounding name? Maybe we should shoot all the Bush's so that the Saudi people, who are kept under despotic control by their monarchs aren't so inclined to come attack the US?

This is just more Fox news hyperbole. That the station still carries itself as news shows the level of intelligence carried by its viewers. I say this in thoughts of the people I know who watch fox as if it was the only truth, and all others were biased.

And for what its worth, I normally hate agreeing with Dick because he's too left for my taste, in this one I'm with him though.

Given that this was the point (and I doubt anyone with a beard like that and glasses isn't aware of what he's saying) what is the direction we should be going? All I heard from him was "use of violence." Well....even Sun Tzu would probably agree that violence without accurate focus is usually more destructive to those applying it than to those it is being used against.

Wow. He doesn't want an attack, he's merely using the mention of an attack to underline his point being that America's actions in the war on terror are extremely screwed up - so screwed up, that it'll take something like an attack to regain focus and realize that they need to unite and worry about the shit that actually matters. It's a hyperbole, not a plea.

It's like saying, my friend is so addicted to heroine that the only way he'll gain inspiration to get help is if he has a huge overdose and barely survives with his life. It's not saying that I want my friend to die, or have an overdose, it's merely pointing out the extremity that's involved with his rehabilitation.

To me it seems like classic "we must destroy the village to save it" thinking. Guys like him are so full of fear their only answer is violence. The lack of violence calls for violence in order to justify further violence.

Honestly, why should anyone give a fuck about terrorism? If it's to save lives there are better allocations of resources. Nearly 100,000 Americans die per year due to preventable errors during surgery. If you want to save lives you could make a major impact by figuring out how to fix that. That's just one example of course, there are many others where you could save more lives in a year than have been killed by terrorists in the past decade.
As far as risks in life go terrorism is nothing to worry about, I don't see how it is a rational justification for the bloated military or the surveillance state.

How exactly does this work? His position is that America should stop immigration and lock down borders but won't because an elite minority controls the government and that this situation poses an existential threat to the nation. The only way to stop immigration is a terrorist attack that would motivate the elite minority. To me the logical conclusion is that because he wants America safe from the threat of immigration he wants Osama bin Laden to attack America.
Is my hyperbole meter broken? It seems pretty straight forward and his delivery did not come across as hyperbolic. I don't even understand how this makes sense as hyperbole, and despite being a dickhole that guy actually is very intelligent and seems to know what he is doing.

I don't believe he's asking to get attacked. I'm not doubting that him saying that getting attacked can actually inspire the elite minority to start protecting their citizens from the threats posed from immigration, but I don't believe he was proposing this as a solution, but rather attacking the lost government officials. It's pretty clear his point was that the elite minority that controls the government have gone perpendicular to what they should be doing, and are worrying about things that are less significant, and his statement that an attack could fix the problem is more to illustrate the fact that those leaders have their heads far up their asses more than, "HEY BRO I HAVE A GOOD SOLUTION LETS GET BOMBEDLOLOL." That doesn't mean getting attacked won't solve the problem, but I think it's pretty clear that wasn't why he said what he said. As far as his stance goes, I just watched that small clip so I took it out of context from that. I'd need to see the whole interview at least to know what the specific things are he's against.

It's like that analogy I used. Do I want my friend to have a big overdose and almost die? No. Does that mean that having a huge overdose and almost dying is not a valid way to inspire him to get some help? No. I'm sure if he was close enough to death he might want to get help. And I'm also sure that Osama attacking us might inspire government officials to get their act together, but that doesn't mean I want it to happen like that.

I understand your explanation I just don't see it in their interview. It's about the only reasonable explanation possible, but it doesn't appear to be an explanation that fits the context of the statement.
