Alright i been haveing problems with this pos pc sense day one and would like some advice about it if you can

I been haveing these random resets when i play some games , what happens is that the game freezes for about 1-2 seconds then the computer will reset not before flashing a full blue screen with some white text on it for like 1/2 second ..Cant read it, to fast (nothing i know causes this crash , i can play for a week fine , somedays it crashes like 5 times its way to random)

A family member who builds company comps and servers built mine , he dont know shit about gameing rigs so it was kinda hit and miss

We replaced the video card from the first attempt , was a 7600 gts , to a 8600gts
I got new ram and MORE of it 1 to 3 gigs of ram now
and i got a core 2 duo of 3ghz
he said he swaped the PRosseser but is not 100% sure

I should beable to max all settings on tf2 with this right but i am getting some bad FR's in full games where as the other comp a friend lent me is getting 60+ normaly ...and its like 10 yo old lol

Should i trash the rig and try again ? (price is an issue with me i dont have a lot of cash)
or should i try and fix this one ...if so what would i need or should i get to get a better rig

This is the fun of computer gaming!

To start, since it appears that you ahve already replaced/upgraded all the parts save teh Mobo. If you could post some more details about the parts (manuf, model, full comp spec), it would help me/us in determining if you have a hardware config issue. That said...you could have a couple of things left to look at:

1. Is it overheating? Your mobo might be shutting the machine down if you don't have enough of a thermal solution. This will happen more often when playing games, etc...and can seemingly be random because your room might be cooler on some days so that the ambient doesnt contribut to the overheat.
- watch your temp monitor after playing for 30 minutes and see if its within 5-10 centigrade of the safety limit. If it is...this is most likely your problem.

2. Do you have enough power? or is your PSU old. You may have a draw problem if you are at or below 500 watts or if its old there might be a ripple problem.

3. Replace the motherboard. Its about the only thing you have left that you havent touched. all else fails I would start here before I just scrapped it all for a new system.

Wtf, he isnt sure? He either did or he didn't...its not generally one of those things you forgot that you did when repairing a machine.

Have you tried re-installing your drivers or even OS (re-format)???

Back when I had similar problems it was a fauly mobo.

Er. What power supply do you have in that monster?

You should be more like Cantrip.

Not sure how to check that , i am not sure that can be the problem because we had that idea once too and he brought over a 1(what ever that messurment for power is ) Server power supply for me to use , it was about a 6 iches high and a foot long and had to sit outside of the comp and was still getting the random resets

Monster as in a good build?..
or just useing that as a term of speach lol

Ok here is my 2 cents. I was having random reset issues a while back. What I found was it was a faulty network driver for my motherboard. It was frustrating but a simple fix. I would be willing to bet it will be the same with you. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. Keep eliminating things.

BTW i baught assassins creed for this comp and it wont run , i have it all on low settings but when i get in the actual game it shudders and lags so bad , now i know i should be able to run that at leasts ..any ideas why?

i had an issue similar to this when i tried to push my game settings to max (ive got a gtx 260 in my rig). games would freeze up and the system would crash/lock, sometimes as often as 5 minutes into a game.

did some digging and eventually manually stopped the Nvsvc32 service (in Services), and havent had the problem since. hope this helps

While we could slowly eliminate certain issues such as Razor said it would be more beneficial to get a new mobo and processor if you can afford it. It seems that your processor is an old Pentium 4 which aren't exactly ideal for modern gaming. That is what's causing Assassin's Creed to stutter.

Of course when you buy a new mobo, you also need new ram as well as a new processor. On your current mobo I'd wager you're running DDR ram. A new mobo will support either DDR2 or 3.

Random resets preceeded by a bsod sounds like power supply or at the least, overheating. Crank your fans up, replace power supply with at least 500W or so.
