It's like a Republicans wet dream

For those too lazy to read, former employees testified that Blackwater did lots of really bad shit and Erik Prince really is the crazy theofascist nutcase. For example:

Quote:
Both individuals allege that Prince and Blackwater deployed individuals to Iraq who, in the words of Doe #1, "were not properly vetted and cleared by the State Department." Doe #2 adds that "Prince ignored the advice and pleas from certain employees, who sought to stop the unnecessary killing of innocent Iraqis." Doe #2 further states that some Blackwater officials overseas refused to deploy "unfit men" and sent them back to the US. Among the reasons cited by Doe #2 were "the men making statements about wanting to deploy to Iraq to 'kill ragheads' or achieve 'kills' or 'body counts,'" as well as "excessive drinking" and "steroid use." However, when the men returned to the US, according to Doe #2, "Prince and his executives would send them back to be deployed in Iraq with an express instruction to the concerned employees located overseas that they needed to 'stop costing the company money.'"

Doe #2 also says Prince "repeatedly ignored the assessments done by mental health professionals, and instead terminated those mental health professionals who were not willing to endorse deployments of unfit men." He says Prince and then-company president Gary Jackson "hid from Department of State the fact that they were deploying men to Iraq over the objections of mental health professionals and security professionals in the field," saying they "knew the men being deployed were not suitable candidates for carrying lethal weaponry, but did not care because deployments meant more money."

Doe #1 states that "Blackwater knew that certain of its personnel intentionally used excessive and unjustified deadly force, and in some instances used unauthorized weapons, to kill or seriously injure innocent Iraqi civilians." He concludes, "Blackwater did nothing to stop this misconduct." Doe #1 states that he "personally observed multiple incidents of Blackwater personnel intentionally using unnecessary, excessive and unjustified deadly force." He then cites several specific examples of Blackwater personnel firing at civilians, killing or "seriously" wounding them, and then failing to report the incidents to the State Department.

Sending a bunch of heavily armed mentally ill Christian supremacists doped up on steroids to Iraq was apparently a business model.

I don't like the company, I don't like the idea of the company, I don't like idea of sending security personnel *cough*mercenaries*cough* to combat zones, but at the same time, I am forced to admit that the people placed in their protection, such as diplomats, were never once harmed in one of the most dangerous places on earth. That being said we need some serious fucking oversight on them and an assload of prosecutions

I like how when you add "supremacist" to a religion, it ends up being homogeneous with all other supremacist religions.

I don't mind Blackwater. Its just too bad its not regulated. Hey! Just like your bottled water.

Yeah, but see, I'm not trusting my bottled water with a weapon and squad responsibilities.

Initially, this was a joke about trying to drink mercenaries.

My bad.

But really, there's tons of information about how fucked up these guys really are. They're unregulated, buttfuck insane, and *everywhere.*

Oh its a very successful business model! Its viability at creating sustainable income and quick return on investment have been proven for a few thousand years!
Mercenary armies usually do pretty well for themselves in the short term. Its a high risk, high return investment! I can broker something for you if you would like...or perhaps we could go into business together.

When have Mercenaries ever been "nice guys". I'm not supporting blackwater and the shit that they have done. Im just saying it shouldn't be any surprise that a "private security force" (read: Mercs) are hiring less than desirable fellows to fill their ranks.

Dito, Obama is still paying the bill and BW is still protecting Obama apointed diplomats and officials when they travel to Iraq.

What I am saying is they (mostly those running the company and a few of the mercs) have done messed up, illegal, immoral things, but the rest of the force is doing an excellent job. Its war zone no matter what Bush said on an aircraft carrier, and in a war zone you shoot first and ask questions later because the enemy isn't going to stop and ask question either and people, sometimes innocent people, get killed, and that’s why war is a travesty. To be sure following the rules of war, proper tactics, and using the right weapons can limit the number and extent of the casualties, and BW is clearly at fault for not doing that, but they will always be there.
