After 40 man hours of wiring, soldering and trouble shooting, it's finished....

What is this you ask? It's an AC to DC power supply that puts out a +/-15 V out, it was completely built from the ground up, I had to drill holes in the case to mount certain parts to it, I had to mount each individual component and wire it all together, it was a final project for one of my classes that is pretty much a pass or fail assignment. Really something like this is an accomplishment to me and in retrospect shows how far I've come

He wants to make robots but not the cool ones that take over the world, the ones that build cars

Yeah I initially went to school for robotics, I've worked with 4 different robot models, mostly assembly line types, 3 of which are still being used in the industry. I've done electrical drafting, designed and created workcells, wired up and programmed PLC systems and AC motor drives. Right now I've decided to double major into the electrical field as well. I landed an internship this fall, getting paid 18.88 an hour and the companies paying for my housing, afterwards I'll only have two semesters left and graduate with a double degree

That's really impressive. To be honest, I don't know shit about electrical circuits and wiring, resisters, any of that crap really. I've always wanted to learn so I could modify electronics to do cool shit (like someone I know who modified a NES controller to fit an ipod and play games). I guess it's good people learn this stuff because I sure as hell haven't.
{pDs} Lead Salad: bike why did you change your name

I have a bit of experience with electrical engineering, being a physics kid and having made a few computers, done lighting and electrical work when I was doing landscaping, and setting up lots of stereo and studio equipment. It's a hobby definitely worth taking up for anybody.

Right now I have a latent idea for my moped, I want to put some turn signals on it but rather than going with the normal bulb setup I want to have two little metal plate flag things that fold into a box, and when you flip a switch a servo turns 180 to flip it out. I don't know what I'm going to do about making it visible though, I'll either have to use reflective material or put LEDs on it, of course with that I might have to sacrifice the servos..
