My current comp has issues and it's a good 4 1/2 years old. Red Faction: Guerrilla owns it's face. So... new 'puter!

I searched around and found a good setup on eBay for $532.99. It's got:

Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor E6300 2.8GHz 1066MHz 2MB LGA775 CPU
Asus P5QL PRO Core 2 Extreme/ Intel P43/ FSB 1600/ DDR2/ A&GbE/ ATX/ EPU Motherboard
4GB STT DDR2-800 128x8 Memory 2x 2GB sticks
500GB SATA2 7200rpm 16MB Hard Drive
nVidia GeForce 9500GT 1GB VGA/DVI/HDTV PCI-Express Video Card
22X SATA Lightscribe DVD+/-RW Internal Drive
APEVIA 500W JAVA Power Supply-Black

It doesn't come with an OS, but I have my own copy of XP.

comments?

Might be low. Not sure. But if it is, I can always upgrade later.

In any case, it's better than my current rig.

For $500? Not bad, I think.

Some parts could definitely use an upgrade though. I say, get it, see what it can do, and proceed from there. You automatically win because its better than your old compy, so yeah.

If you have components left over from other computers like DVD drives, various PCI cards you use, video card, HDDs (optional), RAM (optional), then save even more and get a barebones kit from Tiger Direct. I spent around $400 and got better specifications in all areas. I did however have those components that I listed already leftover form other systems.

If you don't have a lot of money right now, but you will want to upgrade in the future, you need to spend your money on a good case, Power supply, and a great mother board. If you go cheap on those, you will just have to spend more money in the future when you wanna upgrade your machine.

If you get a great case/board/psu, you can easily upgrade (i.e.) your video card, and not have to spend money on anything else.

that's the plan. You can upgrade the motherboard on this rig to up to 16Gb of RAM. Sick.

I won't have to upgrade for a while, and doing so when i want to will be a snap.

Run a benchmark by playing Crysis on the highest settings you can! :O

I love smelling my internal computer components melting...it smells like my money at work.

hmm, don't have crysis, but it runs Red Faction: Guerrilla quite nicely, albeit not on the highest setting.
