The DEA often ignores DOJ directives and does their own thing on a regional office basis. This also only applies to "sanctioned" dispensaries. In MI, our medical marijuana law has a mountain of paperwork and legal hurdles to set up legal dispensaries. Don't cross your T's or dot your I's: your not sanctioned and your fair game for the feds. He left enough room so as not to be telling the exactly what to do, instead he's merely saying if the DEA continues to waste time and money they'll feel the wrath of Obama... maybe. So yeah, CA is in a good place I'd say since there isn't a single cop here that wants to do this shit, but I don't doubt that every other state still has some amount of cops that believe int he war on drugs shoudl extend to weed. That's a pretty pessimistic way of looking at things. Also, you're assuming I'm acting like I'm safe with this new action. I live in Seattle, I don't own a dispensary, I know this law doesn't affect me and if I only cared about myself, I would ignore this. The point is that it's a step in the positive direction, which is better than doing nothing or worse, stepping back. If the DEA continues to penalize non-criminals for medical bud it's just giving our lobby more fuel.

Here's some information about the effects of the new DOJ policy: effects of DOJ policy change on medical MJ"I love the smell of napalm in the morning. Smells like ... victory"

If the DEA takes someone down, no matter what they where doing, the DoJ is still obligated to prosecute them, its their job. And just because the feds have stated that they have changed their priorities doesn't mean its not illegal any more. Progress is being made, but we have hardly rounded the bend.

I do, though, appreciate the optimism. silverwasp wrote:Be careful what you wish for... I have 10 younger siblings and I am only 20....
