You can all call me an idiot later, but please help me first. I just installed Windows 7. Whoopee! Actually, I didn't. I asked my brother to while I was at work because I didn't want to deal with it when I got home. The problem is that I was an idiot and didn't download any sort of backup for my video card drivers. I don't even remember what its called. I'm fairly sure its an Nvidia 8xxx for notebooks. Thats about it. Help me! My computer sucks right now since it really has no vcard. :( If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. - Carl Sagan My Backpack

Name of the laptop? What OS version (x86/x64). The OS should detect that you need a GPU driver and install it via autoupdate. In some instances it wont. Jeeps don't get stuck, they just take breaks. TripleBam wrote:That's the most spastic fucking pissing match I've ever seen. Good god.

At the very least, it'll do the former and tell you to go find a driver. If autoupdate won't work, look up the specs for your laptop. The information should be listed at your vendor's site. From there, you can take the information, go to the manufacturer's site (Nvidia's) and grab the driver there. Safety + Peace

Errr....I named my laptop Oscar, but I don't know how that would help you. :P Its a Sager. I forgot what build. I forgot to share the guts of my computer with you guys. Running Windows 7 32bit, Intel Core Duo at 2.66ghz. Ah, while browsing around I found the system information page. I couldn't find it earlier, and apparently I have a GeoForce 9600m GT video card. I downloaded a driver update for the 8000's and it helped a lot already. I'ma keep trying. Also, if my computer autodetected all this crap, I wouldn't be asking you guys for help. why would you get drivers for the 8k series when you've got a 9600m? http://www.nvidia.com/ob..._winxp_186.81_whql.html
edit: unless it's just a blanket driver that covers both. which it probably is. Safety + Peace

You see, I didn't KNOW I had a 8000m series. I was just guessing. I installed the 9000m series driver right before I left to go back to work and before I read your scathing comments. I've yet to see if it has improved my situation any more though. If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. - Carl Sagan My Backpack

Woot. I think I fixed it all by myself. I was mostly worried that installing the drivers for an incorrect video card would make my compy FUBAR. If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. - Carl Sagan My Backpack
