Thinking about this. Questions:
1. Worth it? 2. Ran the advisor and system can do either so, 32 or 64 bit? Why? 3. Full install or upgrade? I have read what all is involved in upgrading from XP.

I did the jump from XP to 7. I'm very happy with it. My computer is running faster (maybe 50% faster). I'd do 32 bit. Just do it. I did an upgrade. It cleans out all your old crap and puts it in a "old windows" folder you can grab stuff from then delete. I did it since I didn't want to back up. =P I have had zero problems from doing such. Yes, I have enjoyed Windows 7 so far. 2. The main advantage of using the 64 bit version is that it allows you to utilize more ram. 4 and 6 gigs of ram kits 3. I upgraded from vista so im not sure on any specifics to XP, but basically I just put the disc in and it ran. You will likely have to install updated drivers to your sound and vid cards. I ran into some glitches after my install until I replaced those with the newest versions. Quote:

I haven't done it, I've got win7RC on one machine and XPpro on another. I have an upgrade license for 64bit win7pro that I'm going to use on the win7RC machine. I went with 64bit because it's teh future. We've got quad+ core 64bit processors and 4+ gigs of RAM is affordable, it makes sense to go with 64bit. Razor wrote:Killing people is good therapy.

But you might as well if you want to keep your PC so fresh and so clean clean

64bit will run faster because it allows software to take advantage of the 64bit instruction set in your processor. The problem with drivers and 64 bit that came with Vista is mostly gone so unless you have something weird, I highly recommend 64bit. When upgrading from XP, they are basically they same since both do a clean install. The only difference as far as I know is that upgrade will move everything that is already on your drive into a folder, and full will wipe the drive.

MAC USER HERE: Trip-booting OS X / XP / Win7. Win7 is a huge improvement over XP. The Taskbar is much improved, an honestly can show Mac's dock a thing or two. Most of the system menus are still cluttered as fuck and various system options and configurations are set off god knows where, but you'll have fun finding 'em, at least. Other than that, the major points have been hit so far: it's fun, it runs a lot faster, and overall it's a really good experience. Go with 64-bit. Long as you've got a 64-bit board. silverwasp wrote:Be careful what you wish for... I have 10 younger siblings and I am only 20....
