I'm sorry your answer is incorrect as it must be in the form of a question.

maybe I'm wrong to try and take this deep.....

I find it rather well....humanly limited that folks fashion this notion of "well, I'll still be there of course, in my body, and it'll just be like a void". This is no different than any other belief in a soul, except that to put notions of optical sensors and well, physical notions into play is rather intellectually immature. I'm not trying to pick on anyone on the board, its americans/people in general who can't rationalize a concept beyond what they're currently familiar with. This need for a comforting safety blanket is how religions got started up, and only build upon it. Heck, a majestic palace a million cubits to a side staffed by nuetered specied humanoids that can dance on the head of a pin is just adding to the black void concept, perhaps utilizing some mushrooms, but all that same.

As an aethiest and an empiricist (which is of absolutley no use in this discussion, I know) I'd still gather from what we know about physiology that when you die, you cease. It's like when you wake up and can't remember being asleep or dreaming. Except you don't wake up, its just done.

Now apologies for perhaps going past "oh, it's shiny and black and has a loop built in".

and this is why I want to live forever or die trying. I am going to have my brain cryogenically preserved unless something better comes along.
