I grew up in the L.A. area. We had Channel 52 on UHF (frequency range for channels higher than 1-13 in a non-digital age). After school kids would rush home to catch Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot on Channel 52 right after Speed Racer. I loved this show.

I have found this show on Hulu! The air dates are wrong it seems but it doesn't matter which order you watch as long as you watch the two vids in order below. After that it's the same formula: Evil organization introduces new monster to try to take over the world, there's a struggle and eventually Giant Robot is called in to save the day. Rinse, repeat.

So, plot of the first episode is space alien comes to Earth to conquer it. A 12-yr-old boy is befriended by a metrosexual dude in his 20s who happens to work for a secret agency and is waaay too touchy-feelly with the kid. They are attacked by a monster, find the secret base of the enemy organization, they get captured and escape. The boy gets control of the robot when he speaks into the remote transmitter watch. Nuclear bomb is set off by the scientist who was forced to build the robot in a bid to help them escape. The bomb powers the robot. Never you mind the radioactive fallout.

The second vid is the boy becoming a secret agent because he can control the robot. After that, follow the links to Hulu and scroll down for the episode list. Doesn't matter which episode you watch except that "The Last Emperor Guillotine" is the last in the series. Watch that one last.
