Here in Canadia, guns are locked down by the government rather tightly compared to the states. And yet there's almost certainly more drive-by shootings or armed conflicts in Surrey then there is in your average American city of that size. These assholes are going to get guns through the black market if they can't through legal methods, and that's why I think gun control is overrated. I would never use a gun for self-defense or in a fight. That's cowardly, and if someone breaks into my house they'll need to deal with two men in very good shape who know the location of every possible weapon and every exit in every room. There's people who will, though, so I can understand why the 2nd Amendment is still in existence today. I think a better way to hinder the flow of black-market weaponry is to limit the amount of new ammunition produced yearly. Will it happen? No. Guns seem fine recreationally, but I don't know first-hand. The only guns I've fired so far in my are a .22 rifle and a few crossbows. One of my neighbors (female ex-cop) goes to the range every weekend, and she loves it. Of course, when I go to Vegas in a few weeks, I'll be heading to The Gun Store to blast holes into concrete with an M249, so I'll probably make up my mind by then. As for hunting and for the military, as long as the weapons are being used responsibly and properly, I have nothing against it. ...Did I mention I'm going to Vegas? Win Cookies Awarded: 7 (bawwwwww)

I don't know what it is but when you put your hands on a gun you feel humbled by the responsibility yet empowered by it. The magic boom stick I suppose. A friend of mine was a Marine in Iraq manning the .50 cal on his armored Humvee. He has some footage of what it does to people which can only be described as sick. From his experience weapons hurt yes, but they also deter and protect. Guns are not "Bad" it is the people who use them. Before guns Muggers, Rapists, and other criminals used swords, knives and bits of wood. There is NO way to prevent people from getting their hands on firearms unless the world suddenly runs short on iron. (Tungsten firearm ftw?) BTW he had a bumper sticker that said "Carpenters pound nails, Plumbers fix pipes, and Marines kill people" He got too many fingers so now it says "Happiness is... A belt fed weapon".

Gun control in the states as it is should remain as it is. It is simply far too ingrained in the individual sub-cultures to change it now. I went to Virginia and it was absolutely astounding to me how fiercely they protected the second amendment. Yet here in CA... well shit man. I simply shudder at the thought of some of these people having full access to them. The random violence that happens on a daily basis? Holy hell man. silverwasp wrote:Be careful what you wish for...
