It's Bicycle Day.

Quote:Bicycle Day is April 19, commemorating April 19, 1943, when Dr. Albert Hofmann first took LSD intentionally. Three days earlier, he had absorbed a small amount of the drug either through his fingertips or by accidentally ingesting it. On Bicycle Day, he took 250 µg of LSD intentionally (an actual threshold dose is 20µg) and, fearing he had made himself ill, cycled home from his lab. During his bicycle ride, he experienced the effects of LSD, making this the date of the first ever acid trip.
Don't know if any of you are going to be "celebrating", but the story itself is interesting enough. The man had cojones, and hopefully he's not getting overshadowed too much by tomorrow's events.
Off topic: I just had a root canal two days ago and I'm filled with enough imovane and aspirin to put down a racehorse. It took me a really long time and a lot of spellchecking to write this public service announcement.
