Didn't have a case, wanted another server. Done. Spare computer parts + Sheetmetal screws + drywall screws + allround strapping + zapstraps = makeshift case with good cooling.

Jeeps don't get stuck, they just take breaks.

I've been tempted to do that before... server cases are such a pain in the ass to work around.

Pics, or it never happened.
You should be more like Cantrip.

Twitchy: "I pulled a Cantrip . . ."
GivePeaceAChance: "If the Tempest had nipples, I'd pinch that shit."
Xylicon: "I'm about to deliver my [Richard] in your face for posting that stupid shit. "
WDF?: "He keeps reaming me... night after night... I'm rather sore."
GivePeaceAChance: "OMG MY NIPS ARE HARD"
llenta: "cantrip, you fail!!!"
Filliam H. Muffman: "i'm on top of dick"

Make sure to ground everything since its not mounted on metal. The easiest way to do this is to loosen on or more (preferably more) of the screws on the motherboard, and wrap one end of a wire around the screw, fasten the screw(s) back down, and touch the other ends of the wire(s) to the power supply. Do the same for the harddrive and you can avoid some static/ power surge problems.

I should post my server once I get it back up and running.

2nd that. We've been using simple gaming cases for shop servers recently. Its much easier. Still rack mounting is nice.

It's definitely worth the money to get a case that has room to work inside and flexibility. Here's my beauty...

Fully configurable front, lots of room, nice subtle glow without being obnoxious. I took those front "fins" off, though... they were dumb and inconvenient.

Never thought of doing it that way, will get on that later, thanks.

I somehow manage to get dust in my machines that are fully enclosed... at least his would be easier to blow off.
