So, I walk to lunch every day and pass a group of mailboxes next to a U. S. Post Office. On more than one occasion I have tried to deposit mail into the mouth opening of the mailbox which faces the street so I don't have to touch the germ-ridden lid handle. Except, sometimes there are SUVs parked in front of the boxes so I have to open the lid. I don't like that.
This is maddening because people park in front of the boxes and walk away to go about their business. That's not supposed to be. The only reason they were doing it was because they repaved the streets and recast the sidewalk but didn't paint the curb. And it's been years since they repaved the street.
So there's California Vehicle Code section, 21458, which says:
a) Whenever local authorities enact local parking regulations and indicate them by the use of paint upon curbs, the following colors only shall be used, and the colors indicate as follows: . . . (3) White indicates stopping for either of the following purposes: . . . (B) Depositing mail in an adjacent mailbox.
Being OCD I thought someone somewhere would be able to fix this problem so I wouldn't have to touch the mailbox. I called the city traffic department and left a message telling them what the problem was and gave them the code section above.
A week later, today, I saw this and was just tickled pink: You should be more like Cantrip. Twitchy: "I pulled a Cantrip . . ." GivePeaceAChance: "If the Tempest had nipples, I'd pinch that shit." Xylicon: "I'm about to deliver my [Richard] in your face for posting that stupid shit. " WDF?: "He keeps reaming me... night after night... I'm rather sore." GivePeaceAChance: "OMG MY NIPS ARE HARD" llenta: "cantrip, you fail!!!" Filliam H. Muffman: "i'm on top of dick"

Nice. Government in actual action. 'course... considering it probably helps postal vehicles access the boxes, too, they probably put it higher on the list.

Still, it always helps to reference the relevant laws and ordinances when dealing with them. It helps get the wheels moving. On another note, knowing that you pass a cluster of mailboxes like that, on a street that has been repaved in the last several years, and where you likely mailed that letter to me, that should be enough to find said area in which you pass regularly, so that I may lay in wait to ambush and murder you, so that I can complete my people-I-have-stalked-on-the-internet-human-skin suit. Also, how do you like your blackberry curve?

Why the fuck did you waste your local governments time when clearly a True-Blue-American Good-'ole Raaaaaage-Fight was in order. silverwasp wrote:Be careful what you wish for... I have 10 younger siblings and I am only 20....

Yeah, like I'm buying that. Remember this is Cantrip. That was done so nice, I suspect that Cantrip must have said or shown them something so, well, Cantrip, that they were in total fear of losing their souls.
