What mods are going to be done here? I think I noticed a 200 dmg xbow, and more shotty rounds. What else is there?

Also, on the xbow note. Now that we have a sniper rifle can we replace the xbow power with the sniper? I was playing earlier and the sniper rifle seemed to do almost no damage. I might be wrong of coarse, but it is just a thought.

Also, while I am at it, I really like the maps, new and ported. I really like where this server is going. Today while playing with Nate, another individual joined, I can't recall his name, but he has a CTF clan named theRR and he asked if we wanted to scrim. Don might be contacted soon.  he gave us the website www.theRR.us. We will see.

The reason I'm hessitant to mess with too much of this game is to... nerf our skills. THe xbow is just... a novelty thing...

Plus, a good sniper shot to the face = like 200 dmg.

Halcyon's the name. And CTF's my game! I too used to DM, but a few years back I was introduced to this wonderful mod. At first, I was meh about it, but as I played more and more, I realized "Holy shit! it's DeathMatch with an incentive!". From then on I was hooked. I started a clan specializing (but not limiting) in CTF recently, and it's been nothing but great times ever since. The community is growing, and the people are great! And it isn't a "cheapy" mod (kinda what I felt about GoldenEye:Source >_>)  It's been very heavily worked on by a team of very dedicated modders. And an update is due before the end of this month too. It's definetly worth a try.

All CTF needs is a chance, and you too will see CTF as the sugary coating that makes your Cheerios worthwhile!

The xbow is a novelty that tuns to an addiction for the stat whores, that's the only weapon 3/4 of our clan uses.  It nerfs our skills, and most of us have been nerfed.  It stopped being a novelty the day that more than half of the tombs kills were exclusive to the xbow.  Whenever we get a new recruit that members mark as "skilled" it's usually cause they're good at the xbow, and pretty much only that.  I know I'm fighting a losing battle, but then again it's 10:22am and I'm at work.

i stated this in the other thread in the Tomb section.  the x-bow needs to be reduced to like 110.  the max armor you can have is 150.  so if left at 200 damage, it will be a 1 shot kill no matter what.  you need to reduce it so that on the few maps that you can acumulate more armor, you can still survive one arror shot.

i agree that the sniper needs to be more powerfull then the x-bow, without a doubt.  i used to use the sniper a lot and was pretty good with it, it just takes some practice.

Hiyo 'clan'ians!
Gameplay and player speeds are relatively faster in CTF. And a mere nick of a crossbow won't kill you... Regardless, not all CTF maps (if any at all)  make the crossbow overly abundant, and sheesh, it only has 10 hot nail thingies! Besides, the idea of it "nerfing" aiming skills is a tad peculiar.  The crossbow, in essence, forces the player to trial and error his ability to time and aim their shot. In the longrun, that helps the player build discipline in their shooting as apposed to going bezerk and shooting blankly at everything but their opponent. If a single gun screws up a player's ability to play with any other weapon, that'd be rather awkward. It isn't like going from a CS:S sniper to a HL2 Combine Rifle. Of course, I'm not endorsing the spamming of weapons, but nobody spams the xbow in CTF...that much I do know. ~Hal out.

Yeah, except... the xbow is default 100 in ctf... where as our server I had it at 200 (which is the damage level for the xbow in our hl2mp ctf server). It was our gimick to bring the people.

Xbow would be cool, but there is obviously an inflation of xbow skill which affects other aspects of weapon use.  Some people can't kill squat unless they have it, which is kind of disappointing and doesn't really make too many rounded players.  At least with the weapons being spread out people will be forced to get used to other weapons more.

The one thing I've noticed on ctf is that a good fast player can jump or move out of the way of an x-bow shot and take out an x-bow shooter with a shotgun or combine gun.  The movements on this mod are so much quicker.  Some of you may need to adjust your mouse speed to compensate.
