So as we speak Verizon, who I get my dsl through, is putting fiber optic lines up in my area. I checked their website, and for 44.99 a month I will be able to get a fios connection with 15mbup/2mbdown (i believe that was it). Does that seem worth it, what is cable internet usually? I would've put this in tech support but like 3 people look at it so hahah.

cable is usually 6 / 1 Mbps at best
same question, except mine is offering 10/10 Mbps

the site says they provide "free installation" although I'm pretty keen on plugging a router to my fucking computer. Although I'm sure some of that installation includes the fiber op cable coming to my house and through my house. I've seen the verizon guys putting cable up on poles on the road that leads to my street. It's a matter of weeks before I'm blazing through the internet with pings in the single digits  . Shit, maybe I'll host a server from my house, if you're interested send me the server, and I'll charge you 45 dollars a month

I don't think you'll be able to run a server on your line. According to the Verizon Terms of Service last time I read it, it pretty much doesn't let you do crap.

AH! I got it for 20 a month since they were doing a door to door thing. Man, it's wroth 100 a month, you never fucking lag, and you dl 190mgs in 10 minutes. It's sex dude :)

Hmm, Im about to get a 16 MB line. I think that would be about 1800 kbps down and 160 kbps up. It only costs32 Euros per month for the linerental plus 10 Euros for the flatrate (Internet and VoIP together). It runs under teh description ADSL+2, so im not sure if its regular cable or fibre optics...
