There's probably a thread about it somewhere and some of you are probably following it already but:

http://www.blackmesasource.com/

Due to release in 9 days as of this post. A remake of HL1 in the form of a HL2 mod. It's suppose to just be a remake but some of the videos show things I don't remember from the original, so maybe they took some creative liberties. Still, seems to follow the same plot of HL1.

It's been a long time since I've heard anything about this game, glad to see it's finally coming to fruition! I simply cannot stand to play the original Half-Life anymore, it just feels too clunky :P

Even though HL2 is still my favourite game, I never played the original HL1. I never felt like playing it just because the graphics are far too dated, for me this re-make is ideal, and I have really enjoyed Black Mesa Source so far! First game I have played for some time now.

Yeah, this is pretty decent. I played it a bit after I got bored of STO. I didn't go all the way through but it's very well done. You'd never know this was made by volunteers and not Valve, itself.

I sort of lost interest in it before even getting to the room with the three spikey arm things... not sure why.
