Hi guys. It's been a while. 久しぶり, as they say in the old country.

tl;dr: this place may not come back, but some of us are playing LoL. Join us.

It's a funny proposition, writing something totally public that may go completely ignored by the entire world. But hey, the shop isn't yet closed and my login still apparently works. So why not!

Dictionary.com wrote:
re·vive  [ri-vahyv] re·vived, re·viv·ing.
verb (used with object)
  1. to activate, set in motion, or take up again; renew: to revive old gaming communities.
  2. to restore to life or consciousness: We revived it with League of Legends.
  3. to put on or show (an old play or motion picture) again.
  4. to make operative or valid again.
  5. to bring back into notice, use, or currency: to revive a subject of discussion (gaming).

If anyone had misconceptions about the revivability of this community, the precipitous drop-off in posts should be putting a final nail into that coffin. With 95% of what was here now scattered to the wind, the first thing to be done, to anyone who wants to keep from losing touch entirely is to find a different medium of communication. I'm on Facebook and already hooked up with a number of folks, including Whut, LeadSalad, Rikaelus (I think...), and Mrs. Crawdad. Obviously still keeping up with the GwDR folks since they are my friends from before WDFNews. If anyone else on here would like to stay in touch with me, nate.mallory@gmail.com is how to find me there.

The key reason this community will likely never be revived is that we have no common reason to keep coming here, and at this point no one has any interest in investing more time or money in preserving it. Hell, I could probably count the number of people who will have read this far on one hand, and I'm even questioning why I'm typing at this point. But hey, I've come this far... what WOULD it take to revive this place?

Well, we'd need a common linkage -- as TF2 provided back in the day. TF2 has obviously shown itself to be beyond the task, and virtually every other game that's been tried has done little to help. I can only offer a current, popular game with more sustainable longevity than previous attempts and see what happens.

Without further ado, I present the game currently holding the rapt interest of myself and all my friends:

I'm pretty sure you've heard of it, perhaps even played. Hell, maybe your first trolling reaction is "been there done that," "yea LoL sucks their community blows" or "I played it a couple years ago and moved on." That's great, feel free to ignore and move on from this too. The reason I started writing this post was just to update anyone here who might still read things with what's holding Giller's, my and our friends' gaming attention lately and invite anyone interested to join us. Giller is Gillersan and I, to no surprise, am Endyss. We play with moderate regularity each night.

Please feel free to friend us, join us, and if there is enough interest, maybe follow up with some replies to this post. It's not going to revive this site, but at least there are no servers to be funded and it can't hurt anybody.

Or ya know, don't. As you were.

Always so negative! =P

Not my cup of tea, really. Top-down action games where you control one character have never really been able to keep my interest for long. That isn't to say I dislike them, but they just can't keep me hooked.

Even RTS', which I enjoy more, never hold me for more than a couple weeks.

You might give it a try anyway, Rik. It's different from any similar game I've ever played -- though I've also never really checked out Heroes of Newarth or DotA 2, so YMMV. Oh, did I mention that it's free to play?

look me up if you care endyss, username is ahhhh crap surprisingly enough. I pretty much stick to Dom these days but can still play Rift if thats the desire.

and Rik- give it a shot. Im normally not a fan of the top-down action either (dont play Diablo/Torchlight/etc) but LoL is very different and pretty good times. The character diversity is a big help to hold my interest as the style of play really can vary a huge degree depending on your tastes and the char you choose to rock.

I normally try to stay fairly up to date on the site, but with school, work, and life I've been pretty busy. I have played LoL quite a bit in the past, but I don't play it all that much these days. However, I'm currently updating my LoL client and will be adding you guys ASAP. My name is Superb Penguin (some jerk took Super Penguin apparently). Good to hear from you Endyss!

I kept wondering why I had this nagging feeling I should recognize your name on my friends list.
