Wait. I've been living under a rock for the better part of a month. What'd I miss? You should be more like Cantrip. Twitchy: "I pulled a Cantrip . . ." GivePeaceAChance: "If the Tempest had nipples, I'd pinch that shit." Xylicon: "I'm about to deliver my [Richard] in your face for posting that stupid shit. " WDF?: "He keeps reaming me... night after night... I'm rather sore." GivePeaceAChance: "OMG MY NIPS ARE HARD" llenta: "cantrip, you fail!!!" Filliam H. Muffman: "i'm on top of dick"

If Whut meant for this to be a "where the fuck's the new site?" thread, well... it got so dead here so quick (and with my professional life in chaos) I haven't had much incentive to get it up and running...

is this sort of like everyone tossing around the car keys to the guy who's the least drunk; so when whoever gets stuck driving does indeed pull a Jon Jones at least everyone else in the car can say "well, hey, I would have wrecked it worse man."

Haha. Close. I've often used the analogy that Whut threw the keys at me as he hightailed it out of here to focus on life. =P But interest was declining for some time before that. It was pretty much exclusively Valve games that made this place and when we got bored of them, well... people began to float away. We toyed with trying to adopt other games but they just didn't have the same appeal to the members. Plus lacking a proper server to host reliable servers on was a problem, too. We just didn't have the infrastructure to support a community anymore, really. We still have some $1300 gathered for a new one but we're a ways off yet.

So let me just talk like the non-sensical jackass that you all know and love.
Sounds like whut doesnt want to run this place anymore, but doesnt want it to die if he can help occasionally to keep the community afloat. Sounds like Rik wants to help when he can to keep this community goin, but doesnt want the keys to the car, just wants to do oil changes on the engine when he's got some time. Sounds like the community needs to be reborn/regrow/reproduce via fucking and create some new members, something. Also sounds like we need someone to raise their hand and say "hey, I dont know how to change the oil but I want to drive" and then maybe some community folks will show up to get in for the car ride.
How far off am I? Give me some metric so we can decide if I need to mail cantrip a picture of my puckered starfish with a sharpied on "lube please" or not. And yes, if you jerks in the community really want me to do that, and the Cantrip(s?) don't object, I will do that if it means some people show up and cheer for it to happen.

Sounds about right. I'm more of a logistical person; an enabler. If there's enough interest I can (eventually) put the finishing touches on the new site code and hire some firm to rebrand the site--the going plan was to relaunch this community under the GamerSyndicate.com domain that I've owned for years. (It was actually Whut's idea) But I haven't the time right now to push any kind of recruiting campaign. I can certainly cheer for such a cause and support it, but that's the most I can realistically do. I can get the car lubed but I look to others to drive it--either a single person doing everything or splitting the jobs up to multiple people. I'm willing to dive back in if those people can be found, but interest was so waning (and barely anyone's been posting at all for the past few months) that I'm just not sure there's enough gas left in the tank.

I will offer this- I suck at accomplishing anything, but I have no problem talking to people about things that get them excited. If you would like someone to tell you where to rub your special version of lube Rik, I can offer my ideas as to where you put it. But that'd be unfair for me to be telling what's left of the community what the community should be like. I mean at the end of the day the forums IS sort of the community, the gaming was an extension of it for the youngins like myself.
