Okay, here's a trick from college. Get yourself a cheap rice cooker - a device dedicated to only cooking rice. You can find them anywhere for under $20 for a small one. If you're just cooking for yourself, it's fine. Get a bag of rice. Fill a coffee mug with the rice and dump into the cooker. Then dump two mugs' worth of water into the cooker. Press the start button and come back in ten minutes. It will be waiting for you all nice and warm. Open a can of beans and you have a complete proteiin. Or open a can of whatever, Beanie-weenies if you want. Rice is the base for all kinds of dishes. Hell, you can cut up a hotdog, er Scotland eh?- cut up a banger and put that in a skillet or microwave.
Or you can make pasta in about 12 minutes by bringing water to a boil, dropping in the pasta, stirring occasionally. Cut up a fresh tomato and squeeze some lemon onto it and dump that onto the pasta. Or, cut up a banger and cook it as above and dump that onto the pasta.
The point is you start with some kind of starch and dump stuff onto it.
When all else fails, you could always have a bowl of cereal with milk. You should be more like Cantrip.  Twitchy: "I pulled a Cantrip . . ." Side of pasta perhaps? Caesar salad? Pizza and redwine is one of my favorite dinners, especially a nice dry cabernet.
