I'm curious about the possibility for cheaters on HL2 CTF.  I know there are CS:S hackers, but can any of the programs be ported to HL2 CTF?  I've been playing a lot of CTF lately, and lately I've encountered players that either have the genes of God in them, or are cheating, but I don't really want to throw accusations about.

Repeated headshots with pistols, and only like, 2 or 3 bullets max are shot each time.  Nothing speed-hacking wise, but there are times where I know there is no way in hell they could have known an enemy was in a certain spot, too.

if you are playing and you see this happening, grab an admin.  you can always go into spectator mode and watch them.  if there are no admins around, you can record a demo and post the file here.

I've seen some amazing shit that has made me suspicious, especially when combined with people joking about how they hack. That said, I'm not convinced we have a hacker problem (yet, if HL2CTF gets popular enough I'm sure we will). Some people play several hours a day every day and have really high-end computers. Some people just get really lucky (I got 3 mag headshots in a row a few days ago). It's really hard to catch cheaters these days, I remember late last year when I still played a mod for the original CS a lot and one of the long-term players who I had played with on that server for literally more than a year got busted for hacking. I never even suspected them, no one on the server did until they were playing in a highstakes tournament and got caught in a demo doing an unscoped AWP headshot through smoke and a wall - it was such undeniable proof it couldn't be called luck or skill anymore. At the same time, I and a lot of other players I know don't hack frequently have been accused of hacking which in turn makes me very skeptical about allegations of hacking unless there is undeniable proof. It's the curse of online gaming.

It is possible to make some pretty amazing shots, including long range shottie kills.

I've spectated to see how this is all being put together, but the only problem is that when I'm watching people shoot the Xbow or sniper rifle, the shots hit directly (the look like they are going towards the person).  Whenever I watch people shoot with the mag, pistol, SMG, orshotgun, the shots are registering kills but they aren't even pointed at the person, jsut at the general area.  I assume this is just a mistake with spectator mode trying to mock the eyes of someone exactly, but I could be wrong.

In any event, I'll make a demo  if I start to see some amazing, possible bullshit the next few times I play.

as far as i know, the spectator mode is exactly what the player is seeing.  if they aren't looking at the player that they are killing, then they are probably using an aim bot.  i'm sure the spectator mode works the same way as the DOD:S one does, so maybe some of the long time players there can answer the question of is there any lag or not.  but i don't think there is.

Yeah, it may be me sucking, but there are those few rounds that I get killed with like one shotgun shot (obviously double blast) but, it won't even be to my head sometimes. And yesterday, I know I got killed by a pistol in three shots...

Yeah, obviously I suck. But anyway, there MAY be a few hackers out there, but it's all really doubtful. Who knows though, right? Could be. Other than a few of those "WTF?!?!?" kinda deaths I get every so often (And I'm sure others do too), I haven't been pwned to the point where I go "HACKER!" lmao

In spec mode if your chasing someone they will turn their head to look at you if no one is around...

you can change your view to see what they are seeing, that way you aren't looking in chase mode.

when ppl make amazing shots and 3 hit pistol kills there may be factors in their favor that causes this like headshots and powerups. i dont see this as as much of a problem as spacial hacking. playing in that one level with the wells under both team sides and in the center thats all dreary... well anyway we were playing in it today as all the people were in the tomb and not the fight club and there was definate hacking. Not the jump shit and nade-cooking scripts but mother fuckers using a grav jump on the sawblade that took him over both walls and into the enemies flag zone. shit like that i see as the real problem. and the same guy, mon capitan i think it is, i made a carrier kill and return deep in the enemy territory alone with the flag carrier and homie says nice shot gnar to me. like he could see what was going on. when it happened i was like, homie has like another screen with a map overview watching whats going on. spooky stuff
