This will be interesting to follow:
The California Supreme Court is set to hear arguments in San Francisco Tuesday on whether someone who posts a defamatory comment by another person on the Internet can be sued for libel.
Two civil liberties groups say the court’s eventual ruling, due in three months, could have far-reaching implications for free speech on the Internet.
While the case before the court concerns individuals-a Canadian doctor seeking to sue a women’s health activist for posting a third person’s comment about him-the court’s ruling could also determine whether Internet service providers can be held liable when they knowingly allow defamatory remarks to be posted.

FUCK CENSORSHIP this is the god dam internet a place to globally communicate and just like in real life your bound to talk shit about someone at some point in time
i mean you dont see people getting sued for starting rumors and such at schools and offices
its bad enough the gov has fucked away most of our rights but to add censorship to the internet is fucking unthinkable MakeSureItsCharcoalGrilled wrote: you, sir, are a complete dickhead! thank you for your insightful contribution. please don't ever return. There are lawsuits all the time filed against schools when someone's child is being harassed. If the school has proof that they have tried to stop such behaviors, the rumor-starter usually ends up getting fucked, or his parents.
Not sure how it works in the office, but I do know there are plenty of sexual harassment lawsuits for rumors.
I'm not saying that I want more censorship on the internet, but these kinds of lawsuits pop up all the time in other places. AKA Shinobi Quote:Kick some giga-butt

HAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA You can get sued for starting rumors????????? That's very sad. I lit a 30 foot tree on fire during lunch in middle school and I had to have lunch with the principle the next day. Seriously people are starting to take things too fucking far. What happened to the good ol days I heard about where you could get out of a ticket by taking the cop to the bar and buying him a whiskey. People need to chill the fuck out. It must be all the TERRORISM!!! You wanna take this to Fuck Town? Oh gadzooks, yes!
