ok..this is to sort of go hand and hand with my other post in the Tomb about what I will be looking for in CTF maps

The first thing I that comes to mind when I think about a ctf map is attractiveness. The maps are just simply better looking than DM maps. More attention to detail, better use of texture, MORE COLOR. I am thinking of the short attetnion span of someone that enters the mod out of curiosity just to look around and see what its like. I want to visually grab em in the few seconds right after they join and give their brains a message that says hey this shit is better than what I left. I dont think more maps that look just the same is going to make them want to be here when they can go play the same map on DM with 10 times as many people.

Along this same line of thought I would like a lot of attention spent on spawn points. I would like something more along the lines of spawn areas instead of spawn rooms.. I want to give these players alot to see right when they join (lots of visuals around the spawn).. not just the butt of the guy who spawned in right ahead of them in some plain jane little closet..  The vast majority of the precious few moments we will have to impress these players will be right around the spawn.

Weapons.. Weapons should have a HEAVY empasis on CTF models. Fun DM weapons can be used but most weapons should be CTF. Lets show off the fancier guns we have here. One note here is that there should be very little or no use of the crossbow. There is no way that the CTF crossbow will not disappoint anyone who has just been kicking ass with it on the Crypt.

I would also like to see the runes used intellegently and server some purpose in the map. In my mind there is nothing more silly than the runes lying around in a pile serving no purpose other then just trying to have all of them in the map at once. A bunch of runes just lying around with no game purpose is sorta silly and I think their overuse dampens the gameplay..

NAVIGATION.. nothing is more frustrating to new players to a map than wandering around lost not knowing what to do or where to go. This is as true in DM as it is here but the players will blame the mod and end up going back to what they are familar with.

Well that is all for now but I think that should be enough to get everybody moving in the same direction.

PS. I would like everybodys thoughts of what kinds of things make them know they are in CTF now and not just another DM server...
