Well, since the wonderful students at my university cannot get enough porn to download, my bandwidth is now shit, and unplayable. For the past week I could not log on for multiple hours of the day, and when I could, my ping would shoot up to 600 for about two minutes then come back down a few times in an hour. So, I'm not going to bother. I'll try to pop in if I can to check on things. {pDs} Lead Salad: bike why did you change your name

a thought, there is a low demand game called eve online that some of the senior members of this community play. There is also a 2 week free trial for it, if you are unable to do anything with FPS games, might want to think about this game.
If you come into the game, look up myself or individual and we may be able to help you learn the game (or buy you your first ship) I am not an alcoholic... I am a drunk.... Alcoholics go to meetings. Heh... i have continuing steam/network issues myself and may end up being down until I can tinker with all these buttons and get some sign of life out there in internet land..
Or maybe I will take a crappily functions network connection and settle in with the OLD FARTS in eve for some nice quiet gaming away from all the noise of commotion of gaming with the young studs around here....
All tomb projects will be on hold until i can get my system into some sort of obedience. I will keep all up to date as much as i can on my progress..... Once Known as Grumpy... Oh hell lets face it... I have and will always be Grumpy

I assume you live on campus, but you may still be able to get DSL or a cable modem. I used to work in exactly that situation - we had a pix box to segment bandwidth out, gamers would come and complain so we would add their favorite games to a little chunk of semi-guaranteed bandwidth. If that still didn't cut it we would tell them to just get a cable modem. Last I heard there was a good mix of wifi'd cable modems so that one way or another you can get an OK connection in the dorms. Compared to when I went off to college even a shitty ping is good - the entire first year we had to go through a proxy that only allowed http over port 80 - nothing else was allowed, you couldn't even get on IRC. Oh, and we had a single T1 for the entire campus. It was total bullshit. My recommendation - check out if there are other sources of bandwidth, if not go talk to your local network admin and see what he can do. If he's a dick then start finding other gamers and get them organized, then go talk to the network admin again en masse. Razor wrote:Killing people is good therapy.
