Well IE 7 is all official like and everything... so I guess the question is do we take it out to dinner and dancing and get lucky and go to heaven.. or wake up the next morning see what we have gone to bed with and chew off our leg in an effort to get out of there fast enough.

My IE died. Every time my mouse goes over any flash ad I get an error and then IE crashes. I was forced to use fire fox.

This is interesting... I just came across something quite different for a Microsoft release which is instructions on how to back it out just in case..

Uninstalling Internet Explorer 7 RC1

To uninstall Internet Explorer 7 and restore Internet Explorer 6 when using Windows XP or Windows Server 2003

  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. Scroll down to Windows Internet Explorer 7, click it, and then click Change/Remove.

If you cannot find Internet Explorer 7 in Add or Remove Programs, click Start, click Run, type %windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe, and then press ENTER.

Note: %windir% is the location of your Windows directory, which can usually be found at C:\Windows. To do this, you need to have "view hidden folders" enabled.

Well being in the technical support fieldI felt i needed to jump right out here on the bloody edge and try this new browser out that we are all going to be stuck with soon. So far so good.. the only thing has been that Norton hates it but then Norton has been hating on everything lately..

I'm in the same field Grumpy, we're not deploying it at work. I'm sure we will eventually but right now everyone fears it. It took me a year to get Firefox approved as part of our standard build, now that it is we promote it to everyone. I've been planning on testing it next month since we have some web-apps that are mission critical and I'm sure dumbasses are going to install it themselves.
The other big one is Vista and Office 11 - it took us two years before we started putting out XP and Office2k3, my guess is it will take us even longer for Vista (if we ever move to it!). We had a talk about it recently and everyone is terrified about having to deal with the transition - the Office2k3 move was hard enough - a totally redone UI is going to suck ass. We finally phased out Win9x last year!

Heh.. you think that is bad.. we only recently upgraded to 2000 professional and that was because Microsoft stopped supporting the NT platform we were on before. In fact our upgrade to IE 6 is about 6 months old. Is why I have to examine the new stuff at home since I have to assist external customers. Otherwise I would be blind on the phone with these people if I waited for the company to allow it on my desktop at work.

I am sure we have all talked to the guys on the phone who didnt seem to know as much about stuff as we do.

When it comes to computers I have never dealt with a support person who knew more than I did. When I first got my cable modem and it didn't work I got escalated to the "top tier" of support - I explained everything I had done and what I suspected was wrong and the dude actually admitted to me that I knew more than him or anyone else in their support department and told me it would be a waste of time for them to help me.
This other time when they "installed" a cable modem in my last place I ended up training the guy on how to do it, cuz he had no fucking clue what he was doing - he didn't even know wtf an IP address was!
The sad thing is, I don't know much really.

heh.. well for us.. top teir support is me and I would hope that I would never have to say that to anyone. That is why I try to stay up on this stuff on my own rather than wait for the company to get around to getting it to me

I have actually been using it for a couple of weeks now.  My computer told me to download it and I listened.  However, every time I close it, after looking up naked women, it comes up with that error box saying that Internet Explorere has shit the bed, or whatever it says.  Is anyone getting this?  It is really lame and it happens every damn time.
