Does anyone know of a cell phone company selling a phone that only does text messaging and email?  That is, it doesn't send or receive phone calls. 

I have a sibling who, along with her boyfriend, are the only two professional adults who do not have cell phones.  It's a real pain because you have to contact them at home and at no other time.  They don't want to get cell phones and tell other people to just deal with it. 

So, no calls I can understand, but they should have no objection to text and email devices.  I think the original Sidekick was a text msg. only device. 

Anyone know of such a device on the market today?

And you are correct, such a device would nto be a cell phone.  I found one that fits the bill.  The device is known as a two-way pager.  Yes, a pager. Remember those?  Anyway, these have small keyboards on them.  I think it's cheaper to get a cell phone though.

I actually still pay for my pager and voice mail.  I used to have four numbers attached to it.  One for the family and three for some girlfriends.  When one would go psycho on me, I would just disconnect the number, and add another. Now I only have one number. : (      -But there's a lot less drama in my life because of it.  Come to think of it, I'm paying $14 a month to keep it open - 12 years now- while it would cost me $9.99 to add another phone number to my Cingular plan.  Hmm.  Maybe I'll get rid of it this month.
