Somethingawful.com has a front page article considering our pussiness when it comes to snow. In related news, I am sitting at home right now on a wednesday. Well, I may have woken up at around the same time my school gets out, but that's not the point. I actually first woke up today at my regular time, about 6:45. I was pretty much certain that we would have school today (we didn't yesterday) considering it pretty much all melted last night. I woke up and looked outside. There was still snow, like maybe a centimetre frozen on the grass and strips of weak amounts of ice on the parking areas of the road. I thought to myself, darn. I was hoping it would snow overnight. Oh well, and I prepared for school. I left my house at about 7:01, to catch the 66 four blocks away from my house which arrives at about 7:08 every morning. My first with the ice on some areas of the sidewalks, that was either easily avoidable or weak enough that you could just walk over them at a normal pace. Here's something irrelavent but also involving Seattle's noobishness: it's about 7:02, the sky's purple-blue, and I'm walking through the UW campus. Some knob is driving up the road towards me. It was only until he turned them off that I noticed he had his headlights on bright. 7:02 in the morning, on a road one could easily drive without headlights. So, I'm at the bus stop, and there are few cars on the road. I see no school busses, but I usually don't because I arrive at school early. The bus arrives, with chains. There is actually no ice on the road at all in this area. Nonetheless, I get on, pretty much already knowing what was in store for me upon my arrival at school. Three or four minutes later, I arrive at school. There are four cars in the parking lot, two of which are covered in snow. The lights in the commons are on, but none of the classrooms are illuminated. It's alright, I arrive early every day. Maybe today is just a little different. No, I know Seattle is retarded. The door is going to be locked. At least, maybe it will be a two or three hour late arrival. The door was indeed locked. Pissed off, I walk home. It usually takes me about 10 to 15 minutes to do this, and today was no different. I had to tread lightly in a few icy areas, but other than that, I made it home at a regular pace. I turn on my computer, and go to the school district's website. The entire school district has the day off. For a centimetre of snow and a couple bald spots of ice. I am losing faith in humanity.

Last year, a few weeks after christmas i was in class and it started snowing. It was above freezing, but dry, so alot of snow stuck. They let us out early, despite the fact that 90% of the snow was gone within a couple hours. I live in Virginia, btw. Bike wrote:I like to make werewolf movies.

To be fair... we still have a lot of ice in our driveway (which is steep... and uphill) and we're pretty much stuck till this shit clears up.

I drive with my lights on all the time except sometimes in the summer when its really sunny out. It's safer. If it's cloudy or the sun isn't up all the way I turn my lights on. I do agree that the Pacific Northwest freaks out about snow. It's mostly because almost everyone sucks at driving in the snow and drives way too fast or way too slow and then freaks out the second they start to slide a little bit and slams on their brakes and then spins out. Wow. 10:10 wednesday, we got some heavy snow coming down right now. Looks like it could get to about 2 inches max, definetly no school tomorrow.
