All day I have been getting this message: "Steam is having trouble connecting to the Steam servers."
Anyone else having this problem? I un-installed/re-installed Steam(ing pile of shit) but it still will not connect. Any suggestions? Same kind of problem. The reason being is that the steam/valve operations (i've heard) is located in the northwest. They had a windstorm, and probably lost electricity. so Hopefully it would be running again soon... {pDs} *LoneOfficier*"...crossbow+lone....unseparable....!"-LoneOfficier

All steam servers are down for routine maintainance they should be back up and running around 8PM SPT.

yeah, steam is just messed up again. if i had a christmas list i would add this to it - 1 year without steam fucking up my game and 1 year without having to go through steam to open it and play it
i swear all they do is mess things up. EDIT: i can't even log into offline mode because their system sucks!!! so i can't even map :(

Also the boards say it wasn't maintenance but a power cut. yeah, i'm a cranky 'oul fucker. deal with it.

Guess I got lucky in a way... I had to upgrade router firmware & log off steam during the day. But I was able to re-log on after clicking "Retry" button for around 100 times. lol. Well all servers in hl2ctf are empty, so I don't think it was worth the effort getting online. (At least my anti-nade jumping script will be ready though.)
