He attacked with esp.probes so either i caught his espionage probe, or he attacked me with it to find out what i had?

nah, he was just probing you and you detected his probes and shot them down. i lost 8 probes the other day due to that.
yeah, i'm a cranky 'oul fucker. deal with it.
