my map started failing to compile when i started to build the combine half of the level.  i put my compile log in interlopers and they said that i have too many complex brushes and that the vrad reached its limit when it came to rendering them with the world brushes.  so i took out all the func_detail in the combine side because it compiled fine with just the rebel side of the level.  so i figured with all the combine func_detail out, it should still compile, but no.  i can't compile my map anymore, this is a big problem.  any ideas?

EDIT:  i created a new file and piece by piece copied brushes from this file to the new one.  i left out all the func_detail brushes except stairs.  it seems to work, so i'm just going to alter the look of the combine base without adding in any more func_detail to the map.  oh well, i guess there are limitations to everything.

I have had this before , I had to reset Hammer. You know thw open window when click on Source SDK. Select HL2 DM and reset it. Afterward it should be ok. Atleast that worked for me. I don't know  why it worked but it did.

hope that helps.

i recreated the map with less func_details and everything is working good now except my issue with it always being mat_fullbright 1.  cant test the lighting if the map is always full bright.

Well from reading your log file, bsp is not happy with your map and is not saving. Since it's not saving Vis and Rad can't find the file to work with. Here is one of my logs.

You can see on yours it's not writing the bsp file to use for vis or rad. You might still have the same problem which is why it's always full bright, since rad ccan't find a file?

well i can't figure it out from the log and interlopers doesn't show any serious errors.  i will post a new log from my next compile and maybe somebody might be able to figure out why its always full bright.
