Yeah, I kinda had mixed feelings. He had it coming for all those he killed I'm sure. However, he was the head of a soverign state that we really had no business going into. No disrespect to our servicemembers, but we really had no business meddling in their affairs. I do think we killed him, and it was in part to our current prez's fixation with getting the guy because he wanted to kill his father. Soddomy even had the assassins ready for the hit during a trip Buhs 1 took to the Middle-East.
Soddomy at least hated the terrorists as much as we did. Now that place has gone to shit, people dying, our people are dying. We're $300 Billion in debt and it's costing us the better part of a Billion each few days. That's money which is not being spent on programs and people in the U.S. The world hates us.
There are like 3000 servicemembers dead, at least ten times that amount who are mamed or somehow disfigured for life - with little support from the VA and the agencies in charge of making disability payments. Who the fuck knows how many dead on the other side. I really don't think it was worth it for one man who wasn't a real threat and kept the terroists in check. HELLO, NORTH KOREA HAS THE FUCKING BOMB.
Anyway, I just got a sick feeling when I hear they were taking him to the gallows. It just didn't seem right to me, partly because my pop kinda looks like him with the beard. -I don't think my pop thinks so, but I've never told him I think he looks like the guy.
Soddomy came into power by taking someone out, then he purged the governing body of anybody he considered a threat. Hung like 21 people in one day. Soddomy's fate would have been that someone was going to take him out some day - perhaps one of his own sons. I can't remember if one of them was going to try, but I do remember seeing something on the History channel where Soddomy considered killing his own son for something the kid did.
Anyway, it's done. We'll be living with this mess for the next thousand years. Historians will be searching the internet archives and will find this thread. They will say, "Yeah, that Cantrip knew what he was talking about. This shit has lasted at least a thousand years. And when the fuck is Steam going to fix that damn programming bug left over from 2006?"

He was punished under iraq's new legal system which we forc- ahem, helped them into. Of course it's easy to look back now and say "We shouldn't be knee deep in this shit" but 90% of the people you see today who proclaim themselves as "anti-war" were behind the idea only a few years ago. It's a freakishly complicated situation now, and i don't see an end to it anytime soon.
