well as most of you have figured out, STEAM did another one of their fabulous updates today. From what i have heard, some people are affected by it and some aren't. i get to be the one of the lucky ones (again) who is FUCKED by yet another update. but this is my fault because i read about the update (happening today) and forgot to leave my steam running last night so it wouldn't try to update. well if you did try to open steam and it updated fine, your lucky. the rest of us opened steam, ran the update, then nothing. the program closes, nothing shows up in the task bar, and the only hint that anything happened is that you can find steam running in your processes (not even in applications). well here is the link to the steam forums for this issue, as of now its 6 pages long in like 4 hours (figures). looks like i'm out of gaming and mapping until they come out with another update to fix this update. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=524662damn those people really know how to keep themselves employed.

Update is crazy, I left this one aim server to have a 1v1 with tuna(lol) and when I came back shortly after cause he was doing some 2v2 thing, it saved my score. I joined and had the same score as when I left, I guess it has it's ups and downs, but it was pretty sweet.lol jp jp!â„¢

i used to O-Game, but i got bored of it. but at least i got steam running on one of my computers for now. if there was a way to link my mapping software so that i don't need to go through steam, thats all that i would need. its open source, i don't see why i have to go though steam to use it. if steam goes down, fine, i won't play my online games. but at least give me my free mapping software that i don't need internet to use in the first place.

so im guessing if this update means steam wont run, then the automatic update thingy wont work and people will have to manually update themselves? if that's the case then.... wow... yeah, i'm a cranky 'oul fucker. deal with it.

there are a bunch or random things that people have tried and may have worked for them, but a vast majority of the people that got screwed are still broke. my laptop and my desktop are running the same programs and are both DELL. they may have different chipsets in them, but they are made by the same companies. my desktop won't work buy my laptop updated fine. at least i can continue mapping there, but i won't even try to compile because its slower t hen my desktop and the map take over 15 hours now on my desktop.
also, another thing that is pissing people off is that its been a few days now and steam hasn't made an announsment that there has been a fault with the upgrade. a lot of people would be a bit calmer if steam made a statement that they are working on a fix, or even responded to the thread. there are like 10 threads about this issue. the one i liked to, like charcoal said is over 15 pages now. All that and not one response from steam, and this is on their forums too. i even asked if there was a way to hack the program so that i can shortcut my games and mapping software so that i don't have to run through steam. of course since nobody from steam has checked these threads, i haven't got in any trouble or had my post editted/deleted.

I scanned through that thread pretty quickly, but from what i gathered the attitude of steam (or at least the mods who rep them on the forum) was that 1000's are still able to play, so why should they care? what i find amazing is that Steam and Valve are able to to survive with such incompetency and their tendency to just ignore thier customers in times of a complaint. I mean that thread has grown quicker than when the servers went down during the storm so that must mean thousands are affected by this... Valve are continuously shooting themselves in the foot, each update seems to cause more and more problems, and one of these days if they don't get their act together... well i can easily see them causing a big enough headache to put the company under (and they've come close enough to it before i understand). yeah, i'm a cranky 'oul fucker. deal with it.

sucks this update caused problems. this is the first one in a long time that actually went smoothly for me and seemed to improve things, steam seems to load faster now and is generally more responsive. altho hl2 did crash the first time I ran it after the update. I haven't had any problems since then though. Razor wrote:Killing people is good therapy.
