Thats the thing with microsoft products, none of them really work without potentially crashing your system.  It doesn't matter how many precautions you take to save your system nor how many upgrades you do to keep it fast and agile.  If you want to fix your computer once and forall then might I suggest you remove Windows from your computer altogether and install Linux SUSE onto your system.  All you will really have to do is get the Direct X plug-in's and microsoft gaming plug-in's for Linux and your on your way to a sys that plays games at more than 10x the speed your running now.  The best part about Linux is that its completely FREE!!!!!  You can usually find a download for it on a site or can find a site that will ship you the CD for it absolutely FREE!!!!

I think everyone in here knows why I'm putting this post in the "Tech Support" thread and why I'm so upset with Microsoft.  Oh, and for those of you who are in love with DX 10 and Vista, Vista still uses the same Kernle32 as in Windows XP, they just altered it a bit more to accept more apps.  OpenGL is what Linux uses (OpenGL=1000 + x better than DX 10), just as an example, I have both Linux SUSE and Windows XP installed on my main sys now and did a test on HL2 fps.  It tested 344.98 fps in Windows and 7,468.91 fps in Linux, thats with Virt Sync off btw.  And in case you were wondering what kind of sys build I have its on the forums here http://www.wdfnews.com/Forums.aspx?g=posts&m=42975&#42975 at the bottom of the page are my sys specs.

Another thing I love about Linux is that its 100% 64 bit compatible, it doesn't have to emulate anything, it is true 64 bit programing.  Windows XP 64 and Vista are 64 bit emulated, they both use the same programing, just tweeked differently.  Then theres my favorite property of Linux, it lets you determine what programs you want to use how much of a % of your systems capability.  Thats right, you can digitaly assign your hardware to your own preference, no more wait time like in windows when it has to take sys performance from 1 program just to give the current program a boost in speed (and not much of one I might add).

If anyone here takes to heart what I have said, please ask me now about Linux, I have oodles of sites for information or you can simply Google "Linux SUSE" for your questions.

God I hate windows and anything microsoft.

Lone Wolf

P.S.

Viruses DO NOT EFFECT Linux, wish I could say the same about Microsoft products or anything windows related for that matter.

To each their own.....and as for your "buzzwords", what games currently take advantage of DirectX 10?  And who "needs" 64-bit in realistic terms?  WinXP has been great for me.....and I have no desire to "switch" to Linux, Apple, or any other OS......Linux is free, sure, but for the "average" user, it's still not mainstream and "simple" enough for most folks to install/use/configure......when I say this, think of your mom and/or dad and/or friend who uses you for tech support when they cannot get something to work on their "microsoft" machine......and to run Windows apps (which your non-technical friends and family will want to do), Linux has to do something you hate:  emulate.....so what's the point?  Just tell them to download Linux apps, figure it all out, and make a clean break from Windows......and see how many of them will be calling you or get frustrated, and so much so, that they'd go back to the hated Windows OS......

There are Pro's and Con's with any OS and Linux is *NOT* the holy grail of computer any more than the MAC OS is......bash away, but I am not going to get into a flame war because "my dad can beat up your dad" sort of arguments.....as I said, to each their own.  Hate away all you want (me and/or microsoft).....that's fine.  I currently do not need DirectX 10, nor do I need 64-bit programming.....

Your right, Linux isn't for everyone, hell, I'm using a dual boot system where I choose to boot from either XP Pro or Linux SUSE.  I use both frequently and use both for different reasons.  The only real reason I use Linux more now is due to Steam running so much faster now in 64 bit mode.  I use windows for all my other non linux supported games and such.  I'm just saying that Linux is getting to be pretty big and will probably become the next major superpower in the next few years, people should try and get used to it now so when it does come out, there not completely without knowledge about how to use it.  But as you said "to each their own" and that is the truth, people have the right to know what they want to know.  Thats the way of life and always will be the way of life, but there will always be change and people have to be able to keep up with that change or they will be left behind to fend for themselves.

I posted this up due to windows pissing me off for the last time, I will probably only use the emulated version of windows through SUSE from now on, that at least seems to run without any problems.

I agree with you here...it's not the holy grail, but it definitely has Microsoft beginning to stain their tighty whiteys......
