Does anyone know if Steam made CSS, DODS, and HL2 DM compatible with Vista?

I believe it can but with issues which is not worth the trouble. "For someone who was never meant for this world, I must confess I'm suddenly having a hard time leaving it. Of course, they say every atom in our bodies was once part of a star. Maybe I'm not leaving... maybe I'm going home."

it works fine. i put vista in my laptop a short while ago and it works great. i don't know why so many people have problems with it. you have to understand that its a new operating system that you are loading in your computer and that you have to spend some time to re-configure you settings for just about everything. if you realize that before you start, you won't be shocked when things don't automatically work the way they used to when you are finished with the install. it is more of a resource hog then XP, but with that said, it only uses 30% of my memory and i have never pegged it to 100% yet. the processor is maxed way before i can max the memory, and that was the same case with XP.
there are some software incompatabilities with vista, but i haven't noticed it with steam.

Okay thanks guys. Yea I heard that you want to run 2 gigs of RAM with Vista to make it smooth and run properly.

With the purchase of my new laptop, I'm officially running on Vista. I've had no problem running any steam apps however having AT LEAST 2 gigs of ram is a must. As I'm sitting here, running no programs minus Firefox and the usual background programs, I'm using up 940MB of RAM. get your ass to mars

wow, i'm using azureus, windows media player, firefox (multiple windows), and outlook at the same time and i'm only using about 750mb. i have never got my needle to register more then 50% utilization. i have aero settings on max too. something is up with your computer, i would check to see what is bogging it down.

its cool, vista can run so much faster then xp if you can set it up correctly. the problem is most people don't, and it bogs their machine down.

I've fucked around with Vista a fair amount and can't get it to be anything but SLOWER than XP. Razor wrote:Killing people is good therapy.

well i'm running the new Norton version 10 corporate edition so i don't have to have windows defender running. i also have spyware doctor and registry mechanic running in the background to completely prevent attacks. then check your windows firewall settings to make sure that its not running anything you don't need. my guess is that running windows protection programs sucks more memory then (better, award winning) third party programs. my aero settings are maxed out because its pretty and i'm a sucker for that even though i'm only running the 32 bit version. if you are really running that slow, i would run some scans on your computer because you are probably infected with all sorts of stuff. cleaning your hard-drive will probably solve your problem because i run all these programs in the background, 5 in my toolbar, as well as 5 others and i'm barely using 750 mb (i have 2 gig).
