Hey, I am on my 10th or so beer typing this... so i cant exactly remember if i can do this or not...
I have an Asus A8N-VM CSM motherboard and an AMD Anthlon 64 3800+ with an Nvidea GeFroce GeForce 7600 GT with a single stick of 1 gig ram and a single stick of half gig ram, now i want to stick in 2 sticks of 1 gig ram (dual channel i believe since it comes in a 2 gig memory module kit)
Can I do that? Mix the dual channel with the single channel on my motherboard?
please only people that know and not you guys that think you know.
Also, (this is for buzz) what are those 2 programs you use to keep tabs on your memory, vid card and CPU? I am not an alcoholic... I am a drunk.... Alcoholics go to meetings. I am sober, I can still type... I can also walk striate, touch my nose and count from 100 backwords... if I had to, I could do the alphabet backwords (would take time thought) I am not an alcoholic... I am a drunk.... Yes, you'd be able to mix single channel and dual channel ram. But you won't be able to run them in dual channel mode, so all that ram will be running single channel.
Keeping tabs? You mean like monitoring them? Temp wise, I use a bunch of different programs but you're on S939 so just use SpeedFan. Another program you can use is Everest Ultimate, and you can download the trial off their site.

Like mentioned before. You can stick all that ram onto your mobo but your not going to be able to run it all on Dual Channel or just half of it. Your better off just getting all RAM with dual-channel capabilities for the best performance. As far as keeping tabs of RAM, CPU, and VC, what are you referring to? Temps? Capacity? Status? I used to use Rainmeter, SpeedFan, CPU-Z, since you have an Asus mobo you can use Asus Probe, and i use motherboard monitor. I hope this is the kind of reply u were asking for through Xfire...
