Gents
I am trying to play out with a few friends of mine the HL2DM; 30 players to be exact and I cannot for the life of me get the freaking dedicated server working, I downloaded the latest STEAM program and it was quit easy, it automatically updated all the files and then on the tools menu it asked me if I wanted to download the dedicated Half life server files, I did as well, all and all it took me around 3 hours to have all configured and ready to start my dedicated server.
I also have downloaded the other 2 counter parts before steam (HLDS) and the so much acclaimed (HLDUPDATETOOL) both complete downloads did not help me to get the server working.
Lastly I did the SRCDS update (6 hours) later and I still cannot see my server on the LAN.
If I start the HALFLIFE DM I can create a server of the game itself and ALL in my LAN will see me, I will also see the internet servers but cannot join them because of version conflicts.
If I start a dedicated server using the any of the tools above (STEAM) (HLDS) (SRCDS) it will not show on the LAN server tab, I cannot also add the IP address to the favorite servers list has it does not find anything as well.
I guess after 2 days of forums and several HL versions later I gave up and saw your 32 server online and decided to come to you for help, Please. Unfortunate the internet in Africa is not that great we get latency of almost 2000 Ms and to play online is a dream few of us have yet to have.
I would appreciate any pointers you can give.
I have also tried using scripts eg: +maxplayers32 and the +IP and +port
Regards
