Steam has started beta for the steam "community". anyone with a steam account can access the community beta. remember to add WDFNews url to one of your favorite links so we can spread the name out to other HL2/mod players and more. Under your main steam window go to file, settings, and look for beta participation, click change and a new window should open up with a drop list. select community, make your profile and ur off! http://steamcommunity.com/groups/WDFNewsthats our group link, make sure if your entering the beta community to add yourself to the wdfnews group!  ahhhh_crap wrote:no, splinter has ethics and whut has emotions

This topic should be stickyed, Its going to be like the new Xfire, unfourtunately for Xfire. It means having to only run one application instead of two. And people are more likely to join the steam thing than xfire beacause you have to download xfire, some people cant be assed or dont want too download it. Well majority of our games run through steam anyway. Only thing it doesn't do is track game time for other games other then its own. ahhhh_crap wrote:no, splinter has ethics and whut has emotions

i'm thinking about getting rid of it. my old comp can hardly handle it it seems. seems to draw more resources than xfire, and i already have barely enough to play the games as is. yeah, i'm a cranky 'oul fucker. deal with it.

the only thing i don't like about the messages is that you have to esc out of the game to view an incoming message. i like how x-fire will show them in the bottom corner. but i guess this is an acceptable replacement since x-fire has issues running with hl2 sometimes.

Dont forget xfire seems to be running a streak of hl2 errors and crashes, besides with steam you gotta be on it to play those games anyway. Im not saying this as a permanent switch between xfire and steam. Im just sayin this like xfire has the clan page, we should also do the same on the steam side. ahhhh_crap wrote:no, splinter has ethics and whut has emotions
