Hey guys, I realize that it's been quite some time since I last posted here and rightfully so, I've been deployed to the Arabian Gulf for the past 5 months and will be coming home in the next month. Be as that may I have saved up several thousand while I've been away and have been puting together some things I'm going to need to build myself a new gaming monster. So far I have the following: Thermaltake Armour Full Tower, 1600W Ultra X-Connect PSU, Cool-it Freezone CPU Water Cooler, 2 Raptor WD 74GB 10k RPM HD's and 1 750GB WD 7.2k RPM (for storage reasons).
I already have the video cards in mind that I would like to purchase, a pair of the new upcoming G90 cards from Nvidia. The thing I'm still trying to decide is which processor to run in my new rig and so far I have a few in mind but need help in finding what would be best for what is still to come out in the near future. The CPU's I have in mind are as follows: the Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850, the Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 Go, the AMD FX 62 AM2, the AMD X-2 6000 AM2, or the AMD Opteron 1220 Dual Core socket F. All of these are really good procesors but there's only a few of them that are a bit pricey, one like the QX6850 Intel Quad Core, that thing is still above the 1k mark. Keep in mind that I will be water cooling this system, the processor, mobo, ram, hd's, and video cards will all be running off of water cooling of some sort so heat really isn't going to be a problem for me. When it comes down to power, I have listed above a 1600w PSU and I have a 550 PSU I can use for my other coolers I'm getting so power isn't a problem. The problem is that I want this system to be top of the line for a very long time, if I should wait on the processor then just let me know. I also realize that the new 45nm cores are coming out soon, any ideas as to when/what the projected speed and cost will be for these?
I cannot load these pages too fast where I'm at so if you have a response to this, write it down here and send me a copy to my ships e-mail address at bodem@nimitz.navy.mil so please remember to send it to me as I may not be able to load this back up again.
Hope to hear from you guys soon.
